Winter is decidedly here. We've had a few days of sub-zero temperatures and the early morning frosts have been beautifully sharp and sparkly. Yesterday Toby and I bundled up and went for a long walk at Panshanger. The ice crystals adorning every blade of grass, twig and seedhead made for a very beautiful landscape and even the barbed wire fences were prettified by the decoration of frost.
And then this morning we've woken to around 15cms of snow!
I'm glad to have lots of cosy woolly jumpers, scarves and mittens and will be wearing my wrist-warmers constantly now until the weather warms. It looks like the rest of this week is continuing to be freezing, so there will be a little more knitting by the fire going on here. I'm now in the final stages of laying out the three new patterns and am lucky to have some lovely people helping me to error check them. Though it will still be a few weeks before they've been thoroughly checked, so I'm aiming to be able to share them in the new year.

Julie, you are so talented! I love your knitting AND your photography! (The barbed wire shot is my favorite.) Where I live, we are still having temperatures in the 50s and 60s. Wow, I don’t think I’ve ever seen frost do this before! Your pictures are gorgeous and capture the beauty of the season. I am trying to do more of this – not forever wait for the upcoming summer, but enjoy what each season has to offer.

Fantastic winter photos, I love the ones of Toby and ones of the lake are lovely too. Knitting by the fire sounds just right. I am being distracted as I work at the dining table by all of the birds in the garden on the feeder and bird tables. CJ xx

What lovely photos. Toby has become a man, when did that happen, and he looks content. My Monique is still stuggling on ( she is only 12) and she also shares that ‘earphone’ look .( I am getting to old to keep up the home schooling so we are trying a special school next year.) My other grand daughter has put in an order for the little bears to joing the hord of others I have knitted for her, so it is knitting in the heat here.
