Though actually when I was reading through those 1,193 (!!!) comments on the giveaway post it struck me that they weren't all so very different because there's a commonality in what people find happiness in: family (both the human and animal kind), time to yourself to spend as you like, making things and other small and simple pleasures. I've genuinely enjoyed reading all of those comments, smiled at so many of them and nodded in recognition lots of times. Thank you all so very much for taking the time to share your happinesses. I will go back and read through them whenever I need a little pick-me-up, they are a wonderful reminder that happiness can be found all around when you can take the time to notice it.

were left!) and the random number generator picked comment number
611, which was Ellie.
She gets to choose from the batch above which are all finished and their photos uploaded to flickr now (click on the name links to see any of them in detail).
Thanks again to everyone who took the time to comment, I truly appreciate your kind words about the things that I love to make. Thank you x

Congratulations to Ellie. Now for the hard part – deciding which to choose. I would have had a very hard time. Each of your creations is a favorite. I’m fortunate enough to have one of your hedgehogs so I will be content with that. Your work is beautiful and each critter has its very own personality. I’m sure each must be adored in its new home.

As I recall, I came into this history just after a giveaway – and there was some bad grace exhibited by some who had not won. I remember how that tore at you. But look – just look at these darling, good-sport and more congratulations. Certainly, far less than a thousand of them, but still full of love, gratitude, appreciation – expressing just the kind of thing that is right to a woman who deserves every good thing. I told you long ago – you make love visible and holdable, and the proof pops up here all the time. ALL the time. It makes me sing.

I have indeed been jumping for joy since I got Julie’s email! 🙂 And yes, it was very very hard to decide. I’ve never had that luxury before! I finally plumped for Didi, because I love her red striped stockings, her beautiful blue dress and her sweet face. I can’t believe she’s coming to live with me! Thank you Julie, for your generosity and for your life-enhancing blog.

Oh lucky, lucky Ellie. It must have been very hard for her to make a selection, and Didi is gorgeous – but then so are all the others. After seeing so many positive messages you really must ignore the miseries out there. Probably just jealous of your talent, the loving way you care for your family and the warm feelings which come to you on a regular basis. Most of us just wish we had a smidgeon of your talent!! Take care.

Your little animals are just beautiful. I have made a little rabbit out of a recent knitting magazine, but it’s nothing as nice as your ones. I am trying a slightly smaller version (smaller needles, different yarn). I love the way your ones are dressed as well. Lucky lady – she’s spoiled for choice.

More beautifulness. I think that must be why I love to stop by your blog. It is the beauty of YOU and all that you create. In your home, in your garden, in your, family, in your knitting. Your animals are beautiful and I think it is because you are a beautiful person. Your kindness, generosity and beauty just flows right to the tips of your needles and into these animals.

hi Julie, I was so sad to know I missed out on your giveaway and the chance to leave you a comment ! Well truly your blog and knitted animals give me happiness 🙂 My hubby has been working in an autism centre and everyday we thank God for all that we have…but would it be greedy and selfish to ask God for a healthy baby ? We have been married for 9.5 years and trying for a baby for the past 3 years…it will complete our family if we are to be blessed with a child indeed.
