Bluebells

One of the nicest things about having children in different schools is that the inset days are usually different. This was the case yesterday with Toby going back to school a day earlier than Amy, giving us the chance to spend some extra time together. After breakfast we headed off to the woods where the bluebells were out. Sadly they were a little past their best but still scented the air and made the woods more magical than ever.

And then we came home to make (and eat) a cake together. A peacefully perfect day to finish off the Easter break.

a little time for crochet in the shade

the first of the new season’s English strawberries

and a new haircut – Amy took the plunge and had 7 inches lopped off!

The main highlight though was watching Amy on stage in a musical that she performed with her theatre group. Seeing her up on stage singing, dancing and delivering her lines with such confidence made me all misty-eyed with pride.

All in all it’s been one of the better school breaks – thanks to a holiday club that Toby enjoyed and which gave Amy and I three lovely days to spend together. And despite the fact that I’m still going to bed each night hoping that this night will be the first one of the year when Toby isn’t awake for 3 or 4 hours, I am feeling more relaxed than I usually do after a school break!
