When spring suddenly seems a distant dream, thanks to the arrival of bitterly cold winds and drifting snow, the best option is to snuggle and I'm doing just that. Knitting in more of these pretty spring colours helps too and I'm slowly working my way towards a little batch of spring dressed bunnies and lambs.

It has been really beautiful outside though. Unusually the snow has come in very localised showers and at times we've had bright sun light shining through the flurrying snow as it whispers it's way to the ground. Thanks to the sub-zero temperatures it's been that dry fluffy kind of snow rather than the slushy wet stuff that is more usual here and that's created the perfect canvas for stories to be written across – stories written by the fox that trotted up the driveway in the night on silent and slender paws, circling around the car and searching for some supper, and stories from the birds who are up at dawn to begin the busy task of breakfasting, leaving a delicate trace of their dartings here and there. Finding these tracks in the morning when I go out to let the chickens out of the coop is one of my favourite things about freshly fallen snow.

Well, hope you're keeping warm where you are and enjoying what the seasons are bringing your way. I'm off to do some more knitting and snuggling 🙂

  2. Such pretty things to brighten up my day. I live in the red warning area and am home today instead of working – we have over a foot of snow lying and more falling as I write this.

  3. The perfection and loveliness of your bunny photos is today equaled by the perfection and loveliness of your prose. You continue to inspire. Fondly, Christie

Love all those cute legs/shoes lined up.
I made one of your little bears — I must admit, your pattern writing was amazing. Everything worked so well and the little bear came out so cute.
You are the best. Can’t wait to make my next little friend.

  8. Over here in Maine we’re having that wonderful fifth season…MUD. Things are always dreary and dirty (the windows are covered in salt spray) in mud season except, of course, your beautiful pictures and of course your bunny legs/shoes. Such happy colors. You are always a bright spot 💖

  9. Julie all those little legs are just perfect and so pretty.
Here in Australia we are still getting a sprinkling of 30C + day temperatures but some of our mornings have a briskness to them…a sign of the coming Autumn.
I notice the pink note book with your name printed on it.. would you mind sharing where you got it from?
Look forward to seeing your Spring creations.
    Best wishes Keryl

  10. I love the way you knit your bunnies Julie, just seeing all the little parts waiting to be magically transformed into beautiful bunnies makes me smile. I have made several myself over the last 3 years and the latest, a little boy bunny in an aran jumper with an extra sailor outfit, is waiting for our new grandson to arrive any day now. Your patterns are classics Julie, thank you for giving me the opportunity to knit such lovely little bunnies that I know my family Will treasure.

  11. It’s bitterly cold at the moment so I’ve been knitting Boy Mouse in a Cabled Sweater for my daughter for Easter. She and her grandad tell tales of Monroe the Mouse and his wife Marilyn (!!!) so I’m making the characters for her. They are such a delight to make. Slowly seeing the little character emerge from a pile of tiny knitted parts. Enchanting.
    Keep warm!

  12. Where I live in the suburbs, we are not allowed to have chickens but I would love to have a few so I could have fresh eggs! I just spotted my snowdrops popping up their lovely heads yesterday! Overnight we got fifteen inches of snow to cover them all up again! I will see them again, they are so hardy! I live in Rochester, NY near Buffalo!

  14. How beautiful and spring-y! Even the snow looks like spring! (and we know spring snow over here in Michigan! This week we had a couple of days of sunny 17* and then 17 cm of snow!) Probably the tiny footprints 🙂
I always love seeing the color/pattern combinations you use for your darling creatures!
