Miniyarns

It was the school half term break here last week and it ended up being a longer one than it should have been when Toby came down with a virus and had to stay off school on the last day of term. Inevitably we all caught it in turn and spent most of last week feeling sorry for ourselves, staying huddled up in the warm, sniffling into tissues and drinking honey and lemon tea. When I'm feeling rough there's nothing like a little yarn therapy to lift my spirits so I dived into my growing collection of mini skeins. Such pretty colours and some with the added sparkle of silver lurex did the trick and helped me feel much better.

These are a mixture of mini skeins from The Wool Barn and the sparkly ones are the new Nateby yarn from Eden Cottage. They're all rather good for knitting bunny cardigans from 🙂

The other thing that lifted everyone's spirits here was Amy getting an unconditional offer of a place at the university that is her top choice. We went for an applicant day visit on Saturday which confirmed how much she wants to go there and the first thing she did when we arrived back home was to log in and accept the offer. So come September she'll be off to uni! Eeeek!

With Toby now back at school I'm knuckling down and working on finishing off a batch of finished animals. I'll keep you updated with progress, til then have a good week x

  1. Congratulations to Amy! That is fantastic news for her… and slightly scary for you! My eldest will be starting his A levels in September and, for the moment, I can’t bear to think beyond that!
We are having a similar extended half-term, but my daughter’s illness has struck this week… hoping for a miraculous recovery and that nobody else will go down with it before my father’s funeral tomorrow. Keeping my mind occupied with some quality time with my real bunnies! (see bunnymad for some real rabbits, who shed their own unique yarn coats all over the house!!)

sorry Toby and all of you had this horrible virus going round, not a great way to spend holiday time but I’m sure your wool therapy helped a great deal lol.
Your wools are beautiful soft spring colours and with all the snowdrops up and buds on the daffs hopefully some nice dry weather round the corner!!
My little grandson is now going to Renal unit twice weekly so hopefully I’ll get some longed for knitting done!! He is on drip for 6hours each time so keeping fingers crossed 🤞
Loving the blog will keep real close eye for new babies on your site!!!!
Hope you all keep well, love to Toby great news about Amy, I’m sure you are very proud parents.

  4. Huge congratulations to Amy!! It’s so so exciting!
Hope you are all well again. My fourth Piebald Boy Bunny ..this time with trainers… is on the needles for our new great-nephew’s nursery shelf. Making this bunny cheered me up no end during the Nasty Virus outbreak here. Two of the others are in Holland with family there…and one..called George…sits on my knitting basket…somehow I can’t give him away!
    Love to you all

  14. It’s been lovely to spend time this morning catching up with your blog again – the weeks have whizzed past since Christmas and my blog-reading time has been one of the things that has suffered. Congratulations to Amy, you must be so relieved to know that she’s going to go to the uni that she really wanted. My eldest is in her second year now and is thoroughly enjoying it; it’s always hard to leave her when we take her back but it makes such a difference knowing she’s at the uni she wanted to go to as once we’ve left her, we know she’s having a good time xx
