A little batch of bunnies and friends

Nov17batch

There are still a few bunny tails to sew on but that's my job for this afternoon, so I thought that as time is marching on I'd stop procrastinating and just get on with listing this little batch of mostly finished animals.

The first 10 of them are listed now over on my shop blog where I am selling them via a kind of lottery system. I do this because when I sell the animals on Etsy in timed batches I always get emails from disappointed people who have slow internet connections or who are in time zones that make it difficult for them to be on their computer at the allotted time. Selling 10 of them via random number generator to select a recipient gives everyone a fair and equal chance of buying. The details of how to register your interest in any of the animals are over on the shop blog. Please read the post at the top of the page there as it explains what to do. I'm also going to be listing 6 over on Etsy. Details will be sent just to those who have signed up to my mailing list.

If you do miss out this time round please know that it's not my intention to frustrate or upset. If you feel compelled to write and tell me about your frustrations or disapointment then I will do my best to reply with good grace but I cannot take on special orders because it simply wouldn't be fair to everyone else.

There will be many more animals next year as I want to concentrate on making rather than pattern writing for a few months. When I was little my mum told me not to try and please all of the people all of the time and although that is good advice because it is just not possible to keep everyone happy, I will keep trying my best to keep as many people happy as possible :)

Thanks so much as always for your kindness and for supporting my little business.

  1. As always, they are just adorable! I’m even more impressed with your knitting talents now that I see several are made with Rowan Kidsilk Haze, I tried knitting with that and ripped it out, setting it aside until my skills improve or my hands are steadier…neither of which have happened yet! Well done, I so enjoy your projects and especially the color palette you use for your knitted goods. So pretty!

  2. These are so cute! I am in awe of your talent! I am amazed that you are able to accomplish so much, especially as you have your hands full with Toby’s care and helping your daughter find a university as well. I would treasure any of your creations!

  4. I love the colors you pick to knit the clothing with!! Could you tell me what brand of yarn and colors you use. I’ve tried to find similar colors, but haven’t had much luck. Thanks Penny

  5. Ah, your mum was right! I know it is disappointing not to win, but it makes me sad that people express themselves negatively to you.
I am always grateful for the inspiration you give me. I am grateful that you steal time away from the knitting you enjoy so much to write patterns for us.
I am grateful that you provide the names of the yarns you use in the detailed descriptions of the animals you sell. I’m am grateful for your pictures of nature walks, garden joy and of Toby on the trampoline with bubbles. I am grateful that you share the parts of yourself that you do with us. Just know in my little corner of the world, I am grateful for all you! 💕

  6. I already have your basic patterns and have knit the bunny twice, but each time you post new pictures I’m in love again. Such wonderful ideas and so sweet. Arrggggggh! I want them all! Sorry, lost my head there.

  7. As soon as I saw your amazing creations, I knew I would be making a super-cute rabbit for my soon-to-be-born grandson, our first grandchild. Well,he’s now 8 weeks old, and after sewing and stitching for immediate needs, I’m going to treat myself to time knitting a beautiful heirloom for our sweet little man. Thank you so much for injecting pure pleasure into my life!!

  9. Someone once told me you can’t please all of the people all of the time but you can p**s them off pretty much all of the time. You will always have the odd one or two people complain Julie but it sounds like you couldn’t be fairer. They are all lovely so no wonder they are so popular.

  10. As others have said Julie, there will always be negative people and my personal view is that such people are probably not ready to share their lives with such a special friend as you create.
You have created a very fair system and you share patterns for those who can knit.
The reason your beautiful friends are so popular is because they are clearly made with love and patience. As a fellow crafter I know that I can not create when I am unhappy, angry, over tired for those emotions would be in my creation.
As a loving mother to 2 children and a wife those feelings will occur in varying degrees in any week. To also have the joys and tribulations of Toby will make those emotions heightened.
Not so much by him, but by the lack of understanding and compassion of others and the utter mountain of bureaucracy involved in ensuring he gets what he needs today and for all his tomorrows.
Sadly we live in a throw away society and many have learnt to act like spoilt children when they are denied something they want.
Please, please Julie don’t let them get to you. You are wonderfully talented in your knitting, photography and writing and I am grateful for your sharing.
Now I’m often housebound with my health issues I love to travel vicariously through your photos. Your snippets re Toby remind me of my time working with other Toby's' and the mingled joy and frustration of those far off days.
Take care Julie and try not to stretch yourself trying to meet too many
    needs’.

  12. I concur! Not only are you a talented designer, but no-one out there that I’ve seen has even come close to making these cuties as beautifully knitted and meticulously worked as you consistently do. You leave me in awe! Praying many blessings for you and yours, Bess
