Elephants

Hello and sorry to have been away for so long.

There has been rather a lot going on here recently in between the day-to-dayness of family life. Of course I’ve been knitting lots and have finished off a few animals which I’m hoping I have time to re-home before Easter. But I’ve also been busy writing, tweaking and compiling patterns and at last have 2 elephant patterns to share – a girl in a frondy frock and a boy in a textured sweater.

I’ve uploaded them to both Etsy and Ravelry if you are interested.

Whilst on the subject of patterns I’ve also published a new  free supplement to the existing animal patterns – this time for a little peter pan collar which you can attach to any of the dresses. It’s my plan to release plenty of free supplements to my patterns, so if you’ve bought any it’s worth taking a look on Ravelry to see what else there is to download. At present there are 2 extra dress designs and the collar but more will be coming.

It’s the school Easter break here at the moment, so I don’t have much time to chat but after Easter I’ll be back properly and now that the latest pattern writing is out of the way I hope to have some more regular posts.

I hope all is well in your corner of the world, see you soon x

  1. These are beautiful little elephants, Julie. Such detailed and clever patterns I love the sweet frondy dress and little shoes, and the character you capture in each animal! I hope you and your family have a Happy Easter holiday.

  7. Ahhh, the highly anticipated elephant — how fun! They’re adorable, as always Julie. I’m getting steps closer to knitting bunnies. I’ve purchased the yarn (with the help of your devoted follower Bonnie!) — now, just to purchase the pattern and find some time!!! Thank you, as always, for your endless inspiration!

  8. Hi Julie,
Sorry to have missed out on a bunny this morning – so sweet! The 3 that you refer to in the e-mail for random selection for 4/10 – are they the 2 elephants or will there be another post regarding them in the next day or two?
Thank you for sharing your gift from above : )

  9. Julie, THANK you! Simply amazing! I purchased the elephant pattern. I plan on making one for my mom for Mother’s Day. Elephants are her favorite!
I want you to know how much I love your patterns. The time and care and love that goes into them is so appreciated. They are so well written and the accompanying photos are, not only very helpful, but delightful too! I tell you this becasue I want you to know that, not only are your animals a work of art, your patterns are too. Just printing them and looking at them makes me happy! ;o) I also say this because I recently got a pattern off of ravelry for something from another knitter and the directions were horrible. Even the 40+ year seasoned knitter at my LYS shop was like “WHAT?” So, thank you, thank you, thank you, for the many ways that you share your talents with us. I am so grateful!

  12. Thank you so much for sharing the patterns. I have made three little rabbits so far. The first head is very poor, but I am getting better as I go along. Your rabbits are very different. They have an elelment of life that is very special. You give them character that makes them stand out from all the rest. Thanks!!

  13. I would love to hear some comments about the best yarn to use for these precious animals. I am in the US where acrylic is readily available in our craft stores. I see that Julie speaks of Rowan wool cotton. Acrylic tends to “fuzz”. I also now understand that when you put so much time into a creation that it should be in the best materials possible. Thanks for any input.
