Remember that batch of new yarn that I was trying so hard to resist dipping into? Well, I didn't last long before casting on a bunny in that lovely creamy Shilasdair (I have a will of butter when it comes to yarn). And the Quince and Co organic linen was just crying out to be turned into a little lace-edged dress…

Amorette b

I'm going to have quite a hard time letting this particular bunny go. I've called her Amorette (meaning little love) and, if I can bring myself to do it, she (and some of her friends) will be up for sale sometime next week. In the meantime I've included her in my new blog header above to help me remember her. It's about time I had a change because the last banner has been up since 2007!

Off now to sew on some tails, write some descriptions and do a spot of bunny cuddling while I still can. See you soon.

  1. Just a word to say thankyou!I am new to reading blogs and am delighted that I have found yours. A little ray of hope and joy! As a mother of twin boys, both diagnosed with autism, I understand some of the difficulties you must face, and to find the time to share everything you do amazes me, and has acted as asput to get off my bum and achieve. Thankyou so much. Marguerite coan

  2. I love your new banner and am imagining how you went about photographing it. I have a tablecloth like yours and if I were to create a photo on it I would have to position my objects carefully to cover the curry and tomato sauce stains.
    Amorette is gorgeous.

  3. keep her Julie. You need to save some of the best just for you. I have a book that was given to me, first published in 1943 Mary Thomas’s Book of knitting Patterns, its a real little bible, but beyond my knitting abilities. its small and brown a little foxed but really nice, any way to get to the point.Would you like it for your book shelf? love Nina

  13. Love your new header, Julie. It makes me want to jump right into it and snuggle the wool. And what to say about Amorette? She is just sooooooooooo beautiful. Our son teaches Spanish and asked me this morning if I’d got a rabbit he could use in his lessons. I had to say I hadn’t. But I’m hoping……………

  18. Do NOT sell her. I’m serious. Don’t do it. Why should you? Or if you do have such a hard heart (not toward her, but toward yourself) price her at 100 pounds sterling. Not a ha’penny less. You mustn’t. She is so you. So elegant. Such a beautiful soul. I do not want you to do it. I will cry if you do, and I’m serious about that, too.

Amorette like all your knitted animals have personalities all their own. She is beautiful
and elegant especially done in one colour. Perhaps she would love to live with you and send her friends to their new homes as long as you are going to make others similar to her for sharing. I think that if it takes you a great deal longer to knit the dress with lace than the regular dresses you should sell her for more.I don’t think any of us would think twice. Excellent header, so much to look at.

  27. Your banner is perfect & everything in it is so you, from bunnies to seeds. They remind me of the poem ‘The Seed Shop’ – ‘And in my hand a forest lies asleep’.
Lots of planting going on here during the fab weather.
However, I don’t think the beautiful Amorette is ready to leave home – she is priceless! If you really can bear to part with her perhaps she could be an online ‘raffle’ to raise funds for CHIPs?

  47. Amorette is adorable and I think you should definitely keep her. Have you had a quiet word in Amortte’s ear yet? If not maybe you should because I am sure she’d tell you how much she would love to stay with you too, after all it’s only fair to include her in the decision making for her future. I like the idea of using Amorette for seasonal changes to your blog header too.
    Warmest best wishes,
