smiling

I have a big smile on my face today. And what has prompted my big smile? Well, it's this lovely little package…

A package

It's always a delight to get a package in the mail, especially one that is so prettily wrapped and one that contains something eagerly anticipated, but not yet seen. I pulled one end of the gingham ribbon and revealed…

Block

Block2

…the beautiful block that I won in Annie's lovely giveaway to celebrate her year of blogging. It comes from the very talented Fee who has some wonderfully desirable items in her shop Chipper Nelly.

Shelve

Shelf

I will treasure this block with its pretty vintage button and perfect-for-me-colours and will keep it on the shelves next to the computer, where I can see it every day. Like all of my other gathered treasures, it will prompt thoughts about the very best bits of blogging: of fellowship with people you've not met for real; of sharing interests, ideas and passions and celebrating all forms of creativity.

Thanks Annie and thanks Fee

PS: thanks for all of the kind comments on the little video of Toby in the previous post. I'm so glad that you all saw what I saw – that unbridled joy. It does make you laugh out loud to see him like that and such carefree, all-consuming pleasure and delight is infectious. I'm glad you enjoyed it too.

PPS: It's Mothers day here in the UK tomorrow, so best wishes to all you lovely mummies out there – hope you get breakfast in bed and a relaxing day!

  3. What gorgeous things you have on those shelves, and I don’t just mean the block. I feel there must be a story behind each rabbit, bear and mouse, I’d love to hear them some time.
So glad Fee’s lovely block made you smile, I saw a sneak preview of it before she posted it off, but it looks even better up there with all it’s new companions. I’m longing to post about all the giveaway winner’s blocks but I must wait until everyone’s has arrived and Lori’s is travelling all the way to the USA so it might take a little while to get there. Isn’t Fee just the most talented gal!
    Have a great Mother’s Day Julie x

  5. Julie … a bit late in my Mother’s Day wishes but wanted to send them to you all the same! Thank you for sharing EVERYTHING with us! I so love the Ikea pullout drawers on your shelf that were crayoned in (by Toby?) What a great idea? I was only thinking paint … but now I am thinking ‘outside the box’ LOL
I hope you got flowers and choccies yesterday … and are happily eating them one by one! :OD
Take care … your friend in Texas (Which is not too sunny right now … it is the calm before the storm LITERALLY – and no basements here to hunker down into!

  6. Maxine – that coming storm sounds scary – hope it fizzles out before it reaches you.
Thanks for liking the ikea chest. It was ‘decorated’ by Amy when she was 3. I think at the time I was a little cross with her because it was for her room and we were going to stick pretty stickers and things on it but she was so proud of her artwork that I couldn’t be cross and now I’m glad that she did because it’s a nice reminder of her toddler years!
