Snow5

Overnight our garden turned white, as did much of southern Britain.

Snow6

I'm just so grateful that the snow didn't arrive 24 hours earlier because that would have meant missing one of the nicest days that I've had for quite a while. A day spent with lovely, like-minded ladies: Tracy, Val, Ali, Emma, Monica, Alice and Nancy (and the very lovable Pippin, who is not a lady). There was a lot of laughter, good food, thoughtful presents and a little crafting (not quite as much as planned) and it was one of those days that you reach the end of and realise that you have aching cheeks from all the laughing and smiling that you've done. I feel very lucky and privileged to have been able to go along, thanks to Emma for chauffeuring me and to Tracy for being the perfect hostess and to everyone else for your you-ness x

  1. It was a great day indeed. I keep thinking about it and smiling….
(all our snow melted overnight – I had a hellish journey from Oxford but now everything is clear)
And your rabbits… oh Julie your rabbits…

  2. Holy cats, Jules! You got more snow in that one storm than we’ve gotten in this whole winter – and we’re a ski place. Is this usual? It’s beautiful! We wished for that around Christmas time, but as the months go on, we don’t want it – too much too fast – the river will rise. Your garden looks so strange in shades of gray. I wish I could have gone with you to your day. But it inspires me to have one of my own and invite people you would love. That you do love, one or two of them –
Now, I’m going to go wade in the mud and feed the faithful steeds.

  3. It does sound like you all had a great day, and now you have snow! We haven’t had a single flake, soooo disappointing 😦
I hope your snow sticks around for just so long as it’s fun and not a moment longer x

  4. Oh, it was SUCH a good day, and my mind is still with your beautiful rabbits, gloves and hat!
We got a proper amount of snow too, but being East London it is now black and slushy – not white and fluffy like yours!
It was so lovely to meet you and I really hope it won’t be long before we do it again.

  5. Yesterday was just fantastic. I was dumbstruck by your little animals too – they’re even more lovely in real life! It was such a treat wasn’t it?

  6. Wow- Julie!! I can hardly believe it. You have so much more snow than I do here in Canada! There isn’t a drop to be seen here! Much to my children’s dismay. Is that a birdfeeder I see? It looks absolutley magical- almost Hobbit like!! So glad to hear you had a nice day out. Every little bit helps- doesn’t it? Good luck with all the snow-even if it will be short lived. Snow tends to make everything be a little bit more magical- especially at dusk- there is nothing like the colour-as the bluish colour that hangs in the air. Have a great day!

  7. It sounds like you had a lovely time with your friends, days out like this are always a tonic. 🙂
Goodness it did snow on you didn’t it! We didn’t have a great forecast but in the end we got rain and 8 degrees, can’t say I’m sorry (really don’t like snow)!

  10. Wow what a transformation! How do you chickens cope with the snow and the cold?
Glad you had a fun day out, nothing like sore cheeks from laughing and smiling too much!

  11. YOu can keep your snow and the cold…Brrrrr! LOL
Good on you going out and enjoying time with your peers. Should do it more often, it does you the world of good. Another way of having “you time” and recharging your batteries.

  12. Having a chance to “re-charge” your batteries is the absolute best thing, and to be able to do it with a lovely group of frineds is even better.Days like that keep me bubbling along for quite a while. The snow is sort of the icing on the cake!

  13. Well now I know where our snow has gone to! Wow!! I just looked at our weather and it is supposed to be upwards of the 50’s again! Unreal!
I do love mornings when I wake up to such surprises like that. It’s magical.
Time spent with like minded ladies is also magical. I’m glad you were able to get away and spend some time with ladies crafting and laughing.

  14. WooHoo…….. for a Great Day Out with good friends…just exactly what we all need in the depths of winter! (the cake on the other blog looked rather good too!) Our snow came on Saturday night and departed on Sunday afternoon….but it was beautiful even though there wasn’t time to make a snowman this year……. Love to you all Jx

  15. BEAUTIFUL! There were five inches of snow here on the mountain a few weeks back but I was happily spending the week with my granddaughter in Texas at the time. Maybe we will have more before Spring arrives…although it has been such an unusual winter that I rather doubt it!

  18. Hi Julie, I just found your blog through Little Tin Bird (I’m Heather’s sister) and can’t believe how much snow you got! I just love the two rabbits on your header – they’re so cute! Keep warm, Alice.
