Hat

We've had quite a few cold and frosty mornings of late.

Berries

And since there is still a fair bit of yarn left over from my mitten knitting, I thought I'd put it to good use. So I now have a hat to match my mittens.

Hat and mittens

Considering how cleverly designed and gorgeous Kate Davies's pattern is, it would have been rude not to, but I think I've satisfied my fairisle fixation for now. I can feel a major bunny knitting phase approaching.

Hat

I shall be warm and toasty in the woods this weekend. Wishing you a warm and happy weekend wherever you are x

  4. I have GOT to learn how to knit fairisle! Those are just gorgeous!!! It’s the thing with the strands of yarn in the back going across. What to do with them…. how to make it so there is still stretch…….. I need to take a class or find a good book.

  5. Oh, phooey again. I am involved in making a fox, one of Linda Dawkins’ dear designs – (Mama4Earth) – and having to handle only two colors, three balls in order to make him. I am imagining, then, the chaos that would be me, trying to handle all those colors you worked with to make these things. Not to mention the poor hat and mittens if they were mine, all lumpy and bunched here and loose there. I think you must be some sort of wizard. There has to be magic involved. I refuse to believe that I am so totally inept, being a simple human –
It is a joy and a blessing, though, to have friends who are brilliant and gracious and brave and capable of handling many small bobbins and terrible tension challenges. So that I can see them do it and sit in awe. Which I am. And with you, always do.

  10. Your mitten photos made me buy the pattern-now you’ve done the hat! It looks gorgeous. So glad you can feel some bunny knitting coming on-mine really needs a friend! Hope Toby’s ok now he’s well into a new term-only thing is, half-term isn’t far away. That’s great for me (more knitting and grandchildren time) but not for you XX

I can see lots of fellow walkers doing a double take to look at the scarf and mittens. Enjoy wearing them! (I bought the patterns…the nearest I’ll probably get to owning them!)
