Yay, I've finished my Peerie Flooers and am looking forward to wearing them on my next wood walk with Toby, which will definitely bring me a smile – I do love them!
No doubt there will be quite a few wood walks (weather permitting) over the next couple of weeks because here we are again at the last day of term. Toby went into school this morning laden down with homemade peppermint bark for all of the teachers (this is so easy to make and is really good, so it's now my first choice for teachers gifts).
Tomorrow is the start of 17 days of full-on Toby watching. Keeping him safe and entertained with the changes in routine and the added differences that Christmas brings will be a challenge but hopefully there will be some good times sprinkled in there too. I'm hoping for a quiet and calm Christmas with good food, plenty of sleep and some peaceful walks in the woods (with warm and pretty hands!)
All that remains is for me to wish you and those you love a very merry Christmas and a happy New year wherever you are xxx
So pleased you got them finished – they are beautiful! I know your hands will be full for the next few weeks, but what pretty hands they will be. Merry Christmas x

Wow, those really are very pretty mittens. Next year I plan to learn colour work and continental style knitting (to see if that helps speed me up a little). Not sure these mittens look like the right place to start though, they look a little too complicated for a first colourwork project!

I have really enjoyed a peek at your winter knitting, some gorgeous mittens and scarfs. I love those yellow hedgerow ones, so pretty. I am a big fan of Kate Davies too, have you been following the Wovember site? Check out the gallery for some photos that I entered into the competition for some yummy Shetland wool, they will make you laugh 🙂 We are on school holidays and I know just how you feel. My youngest is full on at the moment. The change from school to holidays and the excitement of christmas have sent him into meltdown and extreme highs and lows….hopefully he will settle after about a week or so?? We have been going to the swimming pool almost every day to burn off the excess energy. I am finding it harder and harder as he gets older to deal with the changes. Merry Christmas to you and yours and may the holidays be kind to you and the weather nice so you can go on lots of nice walks, hugs Jen xx
PS I have just made my self some of the TinyOwlKnits, Hopsalots and thought of you as I made them…they are so cute you must make a pair!

the mits are almost as lovely as you are. But not quite. And I think i have made myself quite clear about how doggedly I love the mitts. I am keeping my fingers crossed for Toby. I wish, I wish, I wish he could get just a glimmer of the magic and the beauty of the season and understand how much he is loved. Life was not designed to be fair. It was designed to challenge us and show us who we are. Please refer now to my first two sentences.

Love the mittens and the detail is quite amazing – you are so very talented! My daughter finished for her first Christmas holidays from nursery today and we had made christmas fudge and ‘baby christmas cakes’ for her teachers. They were thrilled with them but I have to confess I felt so much pleasure from giving them. I took inspiration from your kind acts Julie, and I am so pleased I did. Hopefully the teachers will enjoy their treats this year.
Wishing you all a wonderful time this Christmas.
Best wishes, x.

Thank you, Julie. Every blessing of the holy season to you and your family.
I envy you your beautiful hand warmers. Actually, I envy all your beautiful creations. It is hot and humid here in Melb and I have 3 rug projects on the go. One for me and two for expectant New Year grand-nieces/nephews.
Thankfully, Melbourne being the way it is, could have a cold snap any moment, just perfect for a couple of hours rugmaking.
We will all be ‘Toby-watching’ with you praying for a peaceful and stress-less break.

Those are the most beutiful mittens I have ever seen! I hope Toby adapts ok to the changes in routine, it is hard enough at the time of year for most of us but it must be very hard for him and you, it all gets a bit too much doesn’t it 😦 Little lady is already having melt downs due to the excitement of it all. I hope you get some rest for Christmas, take care zoe x
