Wow, an actual sleep over!

Thanks so much for all the good wishes for Amy's birthday and for sending me your spare good luck for her birthday sleepover. It went really well, we all had a lot of fun (me included) and the girls surprised me no end by all being asleep by midnight – which meant I had a better night's sleep than I usually get with Toby (who had gone off with his Dad to spend the night at Nana & Grandpa's).

Amy's cake

Whilst the girls were giving each other makeovers, eating pizza and watching dance movies I was left alone quietly crocheting up in my bedroom and so I now have 15 squares in 'me old china' blanket.

Old china

I am so much happier with the more subdued colour scheme – not everyone's taste for sure, but most definitely what I had in mind for this project.

All in all a happy weekend at the Williams house!

  1. Oooh great news that the sleepover went well! It sounds better than my sister’s 12th birthday sleepover (actually she may have been a little younger) as they watched Titanic after my parents had gone to bed and she was so hyped up on being the centre of attention, full of sugar, SO overtired and very upset at the film that she ended up inconsolable in floods of tears and spent the rest of the night in my bedroom while her friends slept downstairs!

  4. Wow indeed! Make sure you make a note of the date and time as I’m sure you will go down in history as the first person to host a sleepover where everyone slept!!! 🙂
Your blanket is looking lovely, I’m glad you’re happy with it now.

  7. So glad that you had such a great weekend! It was very thoughtful of Dad to take Toby to grandma’s so that Amy could have her special time. I was wondering how the guys did in their different environment? The blanket is soothing now – what a difference one little seemingly innocent color made!

  8. The sleepover sounded like a lot of fun for your daughter. Twelve is a good age for those sorts of things, isn’t it? They don’t need as much supervision as when they are younger. Your crocheting is lovely. The colour combination you have used is very pretty.

  11. Glad you managed sleep too! Amy’s cake looked delicious….and your reworked blanket is good enough to eat! Liked the green, but it wasn’t for this project…the blanket is so much calmer and friendlier without it! Jx

  12. Love it! I think your blanket is beautiful and I love the calming greens. I took a flick back as I couldn’t remember your previous colours, but i guess I can see why you feel happier now, somehow it is more restful now, I hope that doesn’t sound critical of the last pictures as they were lovely. You obviously have an excellent way with colours! On flicking back, I saw your lovely little people/rabbits? They are so clever, or rather you ae so clever!

  13. I really love the colours you’re using in your blanket. I did like it with the yellow in it, but now that you’ve taken it out I have to say that I prefer it. It has such a lovely, serene look and feel to it now 🙂

  15. Wow – actually sleep achieved!!
I have a question about sewing all the yarn ends in – do you do it as you go or square by square or all at the end? This part sometimes feels so tedious that I tend to avoid the multi- color projects. Is there something I don’t know?

  16. I have been reading your blog for about 2 hours now…I am absolutely in awe at the beauty of your work and your eye for color.
I am also in awe at your patience in raising and loving your son. I have a good friend who has gone through similar episodes at night and cannot even imagine what it must be like. I have a child with down syndrome and while my experiences are much different, they are also difficult in their own way.
I am now a huge fan of your blog and will be back often to visit. Thank you for such a beautiful outlook.
I am a knitter but haven’t been able to knit for almost a year, am getting back to it, I’ve missed it so much!
