our hero

Well, he did it! 75 miles over hill and dale in 6 hours and 20 minutes – Amy thinks her Dad is a superhero!

Tshirt

Thanks so very much to the very generous people that sponsored him and for all the kind messages of encouragement wishing him good luck. He's thrilled to have raised a total of £357.50 for the British Heart Foundation.

I have not been anywhere near as energetic, though my fingers have been keeping fit but I don't think that knitting 75 metres of yarn in one day comes into the same league, does it!

Ready

Still, I am finishing off a batch of animals and will have a giveaway very soon so please pop back in a few days if you'd like to win a little cotton rabbit.

  1. Oh YAY for Mr. LCR! And he is definitely a hero all kudos to him and his obviously whizzy strong calf muscles.
Every girl’s first hero should be her dada and Amy really got a winner.

  3. Congratulations to your husband. I have a friend who did the London to Brighton bike ride several years ago. You can be very proud of your husband.
The picture with your latest batch of animals is great. Just the right kind of eye candy to make me smile and happy.
I must remember to come back for your giveaway.

  4. I read this one out loud to my husband, the bike maven – and he said, “Six hours? Wow. Impressive!” I wish I wanted to do the 40 mile jaunts up the mountain with my G, but I’m afraid I’d rather spin out seventy five words per minute here. G points out to me that he thinks, because of the bike riding, he’ll live ten years longer than he would have done. May it be so for both our men.
I will second Claudia’s comment. Your animals started my day with both delight and covetousness. I just don’t believe there is another person in the world with your brilliant eye for design and character and your level of craft. There are some very good designers (and I do admire them very much), and very kind ones – but Julie’s cotton babies are peculiar in their wonderfulness!

  6. Yes, he is definitely a hero, and you are quite justifiably proud!
Lovely little cheerful creatures there. I can hardly believe it’s a year since I made one of your hedgies, and it’s set me to thinking it’s been too long since we met up – let’s set a date for tea!

  7. Huge congratulations to your nubby. You must be so proud.
I’ve just been having a quick catch up and wanted to say hang in there with toby’s behaviour. I have two boys with autism and they both have similar meltdowns. I’ve found that they occur more often when there is a lack of structure. They thrive on the routine they get at school and often struggle during the early evening and holidays. I try to get a routine but things happen and it doesn’t always happen that way. One example today is my 12 year old going into a violent and abusive meltdown because his older brother wanted to play football before tea instead of after. The violence worries me as they get older and I can no longer restrain them.
I love the robot. The class is very lucky.

As the winner of your last giveaway, I can vouch for their unbearable cuteness – Grace rides a stuffed giraffe in my living room, except when she climbs down for a cuddle!

  12. A huge well done to your other half! My father in law had a heart attack and without the research that the British Heart Foundation did he may not have been here to see his grandchildren – thanks very much to your other half for helping raise money for them.
