It's pouring with rain here, so there's no chance of knitting in a sunny garden today. Still, I have managed a little crochet inside and I've now finished 3 of the 4 crochet cushions that I'm working on. I really like the first one (on the left), I'm quite pleased with the second one (on the right) but I'm not sure about the 3rd one (in the middle). It doesn't bode well for the 4th one and I've run out of steam a bit – hopefully it will look ok when I eventually finish it!
(1, 2 & 4 are based on Attic 24's summer garden granny and the 3rd is Jan Eaton's square target granny from her book '200 Crochet Blocks')
I think they all look lovely and the 3rd one is my favourite! I guess it’s horses for courses! I’m sure Lucy would approve of your use of bright colours for the third one too. I’m knitting lots of socks on holiday at the moment and I’m getting homesick for my crochet hooks looking at your post. Pen x

Hi Julie. It’s wet and gloomy here too.. :o(
I love your cushions, I have to agree with you about the middle one. I think it’s the colours rather than the pattern though.. My favourite is the one on the right. I think with crotcheting it does take time to get right. Mine always looks messy until I get about halfway and then I can see the pattern emerging. I only learned to crotchet this year with the aid of art of crotchet and lucy at Attic24..
Keep up the great work x

The middle one is my favourite too! I love the colours.
I’ve been busy with my own version of Lucy’s Granny Stripes Blanket – great for me as no sewing up.
My knitting is fine – my Gran (who taught me to knit) always said I had good tension – shame I ruin everything when I come to sew it up!
Mind you have run out of one colour for my blanket, so whilst I wait for new supplies am about to attempt a mini stocking – well there are only about 140 days to go till Chistmas!

Hi, I read your blog from time to time as I think your knitting is beautiful, I spend a lot of time on Ebay also and I have come across a seller who is selling bunnies and bears that look suspiciously like yours…yours look better but these are close, same tops etc….. I wanted to point it out as I know how annoying it can be as I have had a design of my own copied in the past 😦
The seller is claiming to be giving a percentage to a meningitis charity. The seller has 2 left in her auctions and she has sold a few as they can be viewed in her feedback……Sorry to have bothered you but I have read your copyright section on you blog and thought you might want to know……..here is a link to the ebay…

All things should be displayed in odd numbers! Flowers, vases, ornaments…. perhaps it’s that that’s putting you off completion!

My dear, I think you get the prize for being the most productive person I know. Actually, I’m disgusted with all of you – and am going to go sit down and do absolutely nothing in rebellion. Hmmm. I wonder if I could actually do that? Maybe if I played Sudoku. But that would count as doing something, wouldn’t it. Which would be cheating. But being in rebellion, you are expected to do bad things, so maybe cheating would fly.
Stay dry.

I just love your color choices and think all are gorgeous! How did you get such a professional looking edge? Did you do that with crochet or apply some kind of piping?

Hi Julie – Wow you have been busy!! Whilst I agree with you about cushions 1 and 2, the extra hit of colour on no. 3 really pulls them all together. I bet when number 4 is complete they will all be your favourites!! You could always put them on Etsy if you get bored with them?!?!? Hope the holidays continue to be kind to you. JennyH. ps loving the photos.

Dear J
just catching up with your news. Nice to see you all at the seaside.
I haven’t been able to get out this year, like last. So I miss the beach. But it will still be there another year I guess.
I wanted to say how beautiful these crochet cushions are- sometimes I don’t think you realise how very talented you are 🙂

Hi Julie, I have missed all of your fun gardening and bug watching till now. What a great outdoor lesson for your children. you really are a super mom – even if you don’t think so. God Bless you.
regarding the crochet pillows….your color choices are fantastic!1 I especially like the color arrangement in number two, and i agree with everyone else that the third one is a must — as every quilt needs a little green or a bright sparkle, your pillow grouping needs number three. They all look great together, you have different textures, different scale and the colors are gorgeous!!!
Your bunnies and friends are as dear as can be. One day I will be a happy mom to one of your creations.
our rain has gone and we have a gorgeous bright sky October day.
Your work is always inspiring.
