the saggy baggy bag

It’s finished and yes, it is saggy and oh so very baggy. I now realise that it would have been better to have used a finer crochet hook with this yarn and it would have helped to have woven in the ends as I went. I also still dislike the purple spot but all things considered I am ridiculously pleased with my finished bag! I’m also glad that I got the time to finish it over this half term break which has had it’s difficult moments but overall not been a bad week for us. Even so, I’m really looking forward to the peace and quiet that tomorrow will bring when our term time routine resumes again!

  1. You lined it, of course. I like the way you talk about it – saggy, baggy. Makes it dear. And I realize that I love the phrase “ridiculously pleased.” I don’t feel even that often, but when I do – it’s like eating a really fine fruit.
All I do is knit horses, clean up dry-wall dust and feel guilty for not training horses. But I do have time to love the colors, the bag and the details. Clever girl, for all the bagginess.

  2. Gorgeous!! I want to make one too! I love the colours you used, did you mention what yarn you used in a previous post? What’s your next project I wonder…xo

  3. The bag looks fabulous. Love the colours so much. I haven’t read your blog for a while (for very good reason!) and am envious to see your sunshine! It’s cold and wintery here. The reason I haven’t dropped by is because winter illness has settled at our place. I even had Freya in hospital for three days. Stressful and discombobulating. Have started shopping for you guys for Christmas. Amy is officially the first cab off the rank for Christmas presents around here!
    Hope you’re well!

  4. For a first attempt at crochet, that’s a pretty fine result! Yes, unless your tension is quite tight, it’s a good idea to use a smaller hook next time – you get the hang of it after a while.
I’ve been knitting a tiny replica of someone’s dog and his stuff & now have to make 5 replica pet cats – eek! Means I have to work out a pattern – double eek!

I’m glad you’re into crochet – I have found it much easier than knitting and is easier to switch off with – no worries about dropping stitched : )

  9. Your bag turned out beautifully! I love the colours you chose. Mine’s waiting a lining, soon as I can unpack enough to sew in my new room. 🙂 Soon, I hope. It’s a very useful bag, I expect. samm

  10. I love your bag (beatiful colours) and I love to crochet too. I’ve just finished my latest pattern for a crocheted bunny – nowhere near as gorgeous as your bunnies. Keep up the crochet work, and hope you have a little relax now that term’s begun again. Lynne xx

  11. Now that’s a practical bag…you can fit a lot in there…Mind you, to find a loose small object you put in there would be a bugger to find.
Looks good, I’d line it so nothing could fall out and to reduce stretching.
Pretty good job all round seen as it was your first crochet project too. Well done!

  13. Hello,
I hope you don’t mind me stopping by. I would like some advice about knitting fairisle and intarsia. Do you require special graph paper to work out colourways or designs. If so, where can I download or purchase them from.
Thanks for taking up some of your valuable time. Love your blog.
