I wanted to write about a very special auction that is taking place at the moment on Mia's blog. Mia makes the most gorgeous little bears which come with lots of beautiful extras like additional outfits, snacks and their own little toys.
She's just finished this very special little bear called Mai and she's auctioning her off to raise funds for a very special centre in Vilnius, Lithuania. If you pop over you can read all about the aims of the centre and their work with autistic children. There are very limited facilities and support available to autistic children and their families in this area and so every little bit helps. Please pop by Mia's blog and read her post, her auction finishes on November 25th.
I'd like to do a little bit to help too and so my little contribution will be Perlina.
She'll be for sale via my Etsy shop in a day or two and all of the money from her sale will be donated to buy materials for the centre. Update: I'll pop her into my Etsy shop early next week along with a few others that I'm just finishing off.
In the British Knitters Group on Ravelry a lot of people said they experienced problems with Etsy this weekend. Maybe there’s a lot of extra traffic in the build up to christmas?
Hope Perlina goes to a lovely home – she’s gorgeous ;o)
It’s really touching that someone, who is many miles away from us, is raising money for something in my country! At the same time it is sad that the government doesn’t put enough effort into supporting their own citizens’ needs… and across the world we are seen as a nation that always stretches their palm…
Well, at least this time I’m seeing some nice initiative from Lithuanians and hope that the Christmas fair will become a tradition!
So Thank You, Everyone, who’s taking part.
Thank you! There in Vilnius we are preparing for Christmas charity fair for this centre, and it’s so amazing to find this your post… I’m just wordless… ๐ Thanks once more! ๐
The bids for Mia’s bear are already so high that I don’t think I can join in but I’ll try to buy Perlina(along with everyone else no doubt!)for she is just adorable.
there goes Julie with her super-sized heart… I only asked to help me pass on the word… Really Julie -there is no big enough “thank you” and not just from me!
A big big hug!
x
Oh how absolutely gorgeous are those toys. What a worthy cause too, one that must be extremely close to your heart Julie. I wish more people would do things like that too. I would like to thank you too for the link to Jen, her bilbys are just wonderful.
Just popped in to say hello, you do some beautiful work.
If you have time please stop by and visit.
Karen

What a gorgeous little Bear, all with its own little bits and pieces! How wonderful! And so generous of her…. and you, too. What a lovely cause. I shall have to have a go at the auction…

As ususal a wonderful little bear, and so very thoughtful. Nicola
There’s something about all of your bunnies/bears/monkeys/etc that just bring such a huge sily grin to my face! Perlina is beautiful.
Bartholomew sends his love! (He is still wearing his red nose and flatly refuses to take it off.)
