garden stuff

herbidacious

Not much knitting going on here at the moment – most of the action is out in the garden. This week I've been picking herbs and hanging them up to dry in the sun before crumbling them and stashing them in a jar, ready to add a splash of summer to winter tomato sauces.

Herb drying

I've found a bulldog clip is really useful in drying them quickly rather than bunching them with string which takes longer for the stems to dry out.

Hope there's a little sunshine with you this weekend.

  1. What a clever idea!! Feel like chopping down my mint, coriander and parsley that’s growing in the back garden to have a go at it right now…

  2. I bet that smells heavenly!
I have taught myself enough knitting to do the brown part of your hedgehog pattern. The link for the demo videos you gave has been SO helpful! Thank you! I hope to start the lighter color tonight. I am so excited!

  3. Great idea with the bulldog clip!
For some reason I thought it was better to dry herbs out of the sun… or is it just you’re supposed to keep them from light after they’re dry?

  4. You can freeze them to, especially parsley to put in cooking sauces, then you just break off what you need and crumble them in, doesn’t look as pretty though xxx.

Thanks for the bull clip idea. Never would have thought of that. Very simple. 🙂
Love all your little animal friends! Will you ever sell the patterns to them so that a few could be made by others (me). 🙂 They are so adorable! Very nice job dear!
I’ll be back for more visits to your charming little world.
