Not much knitting going on here at the moment – most of the action is out in the garden. This week I've been picking herbs and hanging them up to dry in the sun before crumbling them and stashing them in a jar, ready to add a splash of summer to winter tomato sauces.
I've found a bulldog clip is really useful in drying them quickly rather than bunching them with string which takes longer for the stems to dry out.
Hope there's a little sunshine with you this weekend.
Oh! fantastic idea. I will give it a try in my garden this week – thanks

What a clever idea!! Feel like chopping down my mint, coriander and parsley that’s growing in the back garden to have a go at it right now…

I like the bulldog clips as driers – I fear I still have a bunch of strung together sage drying in the shed from last year!

What a brilliant idea Julie! I’ve got some gorgeous mint in my garden but it’s gone totally wild and is practically taking over the place!

Fantastic Idea with the bull clip – I have three lavender bushes that are full to falling over – and this may be a quicker way to dry the flowers!

I have taught myself enough knitting to do the brown part of your hedgehog pattern. The link for the demo videos you gave has been SO helpful! Thank you! I hope to start the lighter color tonight. I am so excited!

Great idea with the bulldog clip!
For some reason I thought it was better to dry herbs out of the sun… or is it just you’re supposed to keep them from light after they’re dry?

Julie, will you ever cease to inspire me. Why had I not thought of drying my herb glut.

You can freeze them to, especially parsley to put in cooking sauces, then you just break off what you need and crumble them in, doesn’t look as pretty though xxx.

What an excellent idea. I have so much basil it’s taking over the kitchen windowsill, so I might have a go at drying some of it.
