garden stuff

growth

Many, many thanks to everyone who has popped over to etsy and bought a copy of my cosy pattern. It's been lovely to see some finished ones already appearing on ravelry and a nice thought that lots of them will be hopping onto breakfast tables around the world on Easter morning!

This week has been a busy one so far. I've been giving the beds a last digging over and preparing for our little veg garden this year. With the sun and warmth over the last week the first of my seeds have sprouted

The plum tree is in full blossom and all feels positive and full of promise for the summer ahead!

  1. Just having a quick little flick around blogland and can’t help noticing how full of hope and spring it is.
Love your blossom photo, I thought blossom time seemed to come out of nowhere this year.

  2. It is too early here for preparing to plan. The bulbs are just bursting out and few flowers are evident. Today will bring Spring rain, but we have been known to have snow storms in March and rumor has snow coming in this weekend. Happy planting! ~Kelly

  3. What a gorgeous tree, it must smell lovely. My potatoes are chitting on the kitchen counter as we speak… maybe I should plant them instead of trying to eat them? I never knew there was a word for that, thanks for the vocabulary lesson!

  4. Very busy, by the looks of things! I’m not much of a gardener (or any of a gardener at all, really) but Mr Boyfriend is. Quite inspired by your veg: may have to persuade him to give it a go – I can knit hats for the potatoes =D )

  6. The trees are blossoming already??? You are so lucky! We still have snow and it’s so cold outside. I need to start sowing seeds, but keeping it off as this winter seems like a never ending story…

  7. What a lovely uplifting post! I think I saw the top of the chicken house in the blossom picture…? How many eggs are they laying? Ours have just started laying again. Averaging about 2 a day between the 4 hens. Yummy brekkies 🙂 x

  9. Hi, Julie! Check out my website to enter for a wonderful cookbook by Jan Karon (sorry it’s not a cute knitted item grin), but great recipes! Anyway, it’s a GIVEAWAY!

  10. Just a quick PS: I meant to tell you about this shop http://www.franceshilary.com the last time I commented. I haven’t actually bought anything from the website, but the shop is in York and it’s full of beeeeautiful things, which I shamelessly covet despite aforementioned lack of gardening skills.

I LOVE your knitted animals. It’s my aim to give one a new home (with me!) one day.

  12. Hi,
I believe that in the future we’ll see lots of people growing their own vegetables.
Quite probably even buildings with built-in agriculture.
Besides nowadays fruits and vegetables are tastless, so one is better being the farmer 🙂
What does mean “chitting” when you refer to your tatoes ?
    Take care,
    José
