Well, another school break has come and gone. This was quite a good one for us as I took the children to stay with my Mum and Dad. We really enjoyed the change of scenery and Amy loved playing with her cousins. It was really great to have a bit of warmer, drier weather which meant lots of fun trips to the park for Toby. He made the most of being able to run around outside again after a long winter of being cooped up!
Talking of being cooped up the chickens are doing well and are still poohing mountains! We've had to buy a second compost bin to cope with the amount they produce – all good for the veggies that we'll be planting soon. They're laying really well too – we're now getting at least 2
eggs a day and they're getting bigger too.
To celebrate the egg fest (and with Easter not far around the corner) I've been making a few egg cosies again. I've not made any since 2007 (and this one here belongs to the Tobster) but I'm having fun tweaking the pattern again and hope to have some available to buy soon(ish!)
Lastly, thanks so much to everyone who entered Trash's lovely raffle to raise funds for the Red Cross Bushfire appeal. Altogether she raised $2,040! I'm really pleased to be sending Annabelle off to her new owner Kelly and it seems very apt that she's in Australia.
Glad you had a good break 🙂 That egg cozy is just the cutest! So glad that so much funds have been raised, that’s excellent!

Thank you again and very very publicly for your generous donation to the first Trash Raffle for the Victorian Bushfire Appeal. I am sure the presence of Annabelle as both a prize and a poster girl contributed greatly to achieving such a fabulous sum 🙂

My son plays with the two egg cosies I purchased from you in 2007. The egg cosies are the babies, the (pirate) rabbit is Mommy, the monkey is Daddy and the panda wearing the tutu is (for some reason) Grandpa. He’s a toddler now, and he loves them all!

Hi Julie, love your blog and bunnies. I crochet animals in between house, husband and 3 children duties. I especially love your colours. Can you tell me the type of wool you use – I’m trying to build a nice (non-acrylic) stash!!! Keep up the good work. Also, I think a book of your patterns and lovely photos would be a big seller now that the world is cottoning on to our lifestyle….!

I love the little egg cosy, very cute. The donations for the fire appeal have been amazing. People from all over the country and the world have rallied around these poor families and communities. It’s just wonderful. Still the death toll rises, 210 today, expected to reach 240 with 30 people still missing. The fires rage on with thousand of hectares of land lost and new homes yesterday. I’m so glad to see March and the hope of some rain. Thank you Julie for your lovely donation, the money will go to a greatful family.
