The last of our homegrown tomatoes. Lovingly tended, carefully picked, gently roasted and quickly scoffed*!
Enjoy your weekend everyone!
* sorry, just to clarify we didn’t jeer, mock or heap derision on them, ‘scoff’ is brit slang – meaning to eat up very quickly!

They look most delicious!
Happy weekend… 🙂

Nothing better than homegrown tomatoes ^_^ Although I have failed (yet again!) to grow them, I really appreciate those of Mr H’s grandfather. Nothing better! Fortunately, potatoes do better in my garden, so all is not loss!
Have a lovely weekend.

Scoffed?? Didn’t they like them?? They look gorgeous. I have tried homegrown tomatoes for the first time this year, and I cannot believe how good they taste!

The last of ours are gone too and the empty pots are waiting to be filled with something autumnal. Perhaps his weekend….

you really can’t beat homegrown tomatoes. We didn’t grow any this year – luckily my Dad did and I’ve been pinching his! We are planning to grow our own strawberries next year as Leah loves them, so have sent off for them already!

Lovely tomatoes!
Regarding “scoff” – here in the U.S. (at least in southern California) a lot of people use “scarf.”

We’ve had a fair few tomatoes this year despite the rubbish summer – not as pretty as yours, but still very tasty!

oh hahahaha! I’m lost in giggles trying to think how one might scoff at a tomato “oi, you scurvy blushing plump lump” “yes you, you acidic ball of squish”…. nope doesn’t sound convincing to me! t.x

Ha! That’s what I love about English blogs…as an Aussie…I get the language! We would also say ‘scarfed’ (although I don’t know if thats exactly the right spelling for it!). Jen

Thanks for posting Julie, makes me smile. Internet love for Toby and Amy x

They look lovely, and home grown tomatoes are such a treat. The “Brit slang” of scoff must be akin to the American slang of “scarf” – meaning the same thing if I am understanding correctly.

You scoffed (at) them? No wonder they’re blushing! 🙂 Homegrown is the best! And I think scoffing and scarfing are the same thing on different sidesof the pond.
