general stuff

anniversary!

Thanks so very much for the warm welcome back. I was wondering if I’d have been forgotton in my absence and I have a warm, fuzzy glow now that you’ve all come to visit again.

It will take me a while to get back into the swing of things so partly
to give myself a little longer to adjust to the change of pace, partly to celebrate the start of my third year of blogging, and partly to just thank all of you lovely people for visiting I thought I’d have a giveaway. If you would like to
win yourself a regular-sized little cotton friend of your choosing, please leave me a comment
of any sort below and I’ll pick a random winner next thursday.

Win

Thanks again for swinging by and for all of the lovely comments that you leave – they make my world a sunnier place x

Comments are now closed and I’m off to generate a random number.

  1. Hi Julie
I have just started looking at blogs and I can’t begin to tell you my excitement when I came across yours! I am a knitter – not nearly as clever as you, but that is something to aspire to! – and your little knitted friends just take my breath away.
I am also the proud mother of an autistic girl (age three – diagnosed at 2 and a half) and when I read about your boy I was in tears. I think you are amazing that you share so much of yourself in your blog and I will be regularly visiting.
    Thank you!

Congratulations on your anniversary and your mention in the crafting mag this month.
I’ve got a 3 year old and we’re almost there with the potty training and I can empathise with you on how frustrating it can be. The star chart and lots and lots of patience were the things that worked for us – and as for Gina Ford’s doing it in a week – if only! Good luck 🙂

I would love to win one of your rabbits, but I have to say I would have to give it to my niece as she has a favourite bunny that I gave her 9 years ago now and she has worn it to bits but wont part with it. She lost her mum 2 months ago so perhaps one of your little rabbits could replace it for her.

My eldest son Benjamin was out in Grandad’s garden working with his Grandad (one of his favourite things to do). They were picking raspberries and Benjamin was heard to be saying quietly to himself over and over again “I must not eat the raspberries, I must put the raspberries in the bowl.” After a few minutes he was heard to say with great joy “Ah, a squished one, I can eat squished ones!”.

Summer is always a “slow-down” time but
so wonderful when spent with family. My
daughter & her family (2 small grandsons)
are with us presently. When the grandsons
saw your knitted toys you should have seen
their eyes light up! They really liked the
monkeys. But to tell you the truth, all
your work is just too beautiful. You should
be very proud of your work. And that
doesn’t come just from me, but hundreds
that love your menagerie of animals!

Although I will say that I didn’t really need another craft to add to my long list but I am glad I did.

I have been “lurking” around your blog for a while now, and it always makes me smile. Your little knitted friends are so sweet and have so much personality — they remind me of my own menagerie of stuffed animals, a few of which have followed me cross-country several times and even cross-Atlantic (to the UK for a time) as I’ve pursued my BA, and now MFA, in the last six years. 🙂 I’ve wanted to buy one for the longest time, but my tight student budget just won’t permit. Ahh, maybe someday, if I ever get a real job. ^_^

  357. Hi Julie…you’re back! Sounds like you have had a wonderful summer. I’m afraid i am not a regular poster of my blog, but i do love to blog hop and read about everyone else’s day to day lives, yours especially because i have a 6 year old nephew who has not been diagnosed with anything as yet. We as a family know there is something wrong, but cant put a finger on it. He is such a dear Sweet little boy and its so frustrating for all us and him as he still can not read or write. He only receives one to one for an hour a week at school which of course is no where near enough. Anyway I’m sure he will get the help he needs, my sister just needs to fight harder for him.
The real reason I am leaving a post to win one of your darling knitted friends is for my daughter. She adores reading your blog and has been looking to buy one of your darlings. She is 18 and has been taught by her paternal grandmother how to knit ( I’m afraid I’m not very good…although i did start to knit her jumper when she 3! I think she was 7 when i finished it ! LOL:) She has just started a full time job after passing her A levels with 3 A’s in History, English Lit & Psychology. She worked so damn hard for these, I just cant stand it when they say they’re getting easier !!!!! At the moment she has had enough of education & has deferred a year for uni. Well Julie…heres hoping. Thanks and Happy anniversary.

I wasn’t even going to enter this contest because you have so many HUNDREDS of entrys whenever you have a give away! But there is nothing I would love more than one of your original creations. So I MUST enter.I have been searching knitting blogs daily for a couple of years. (I enjoy reading knitting blogs and buying knitting books almost as much a I enjoy knitting.) I have never found anything I love more than your craft. So, please add me to the list of hundreds of fans…I certainly can’t win if I don’t enter right?

  367. Wow Julie,
Today is the first day I have stumbled across your site and I am really amazed. I am starting to try and prepare for Christmas and presents and found your site. Your knitted animals are so beautiful, I particularly love the monkeys and rabbits and would love to be able to get hold of one. I know you are doing a giveaway, but do you sell them aswell? I think they are amazing, and imagine you struggle to meet the demand for them. If you are selling these, and see this comment among the many others, could you let me know where abouts you sell them. Thanks ever so much and congratulations on such a lovely site!! 🙂
