happy old bag!

Thanks enormously for all of the kind, supportive and very lovely messages about my last post. I suppose I was seeking a bit of external validation to help solve my quandry – your feedback definitely helped! I like how etsy is working out so far- there’s a lot less involvement for me which means more knitting time (YAY!) and as Mama Urchin so kindly pointed out it is possible to subscribe to an RSS feed which is like getting an alert when anything new is added.

I do like how Vicki described my situation as a ‘hobby gone wild’ it’s a perfect description of the way things have snowballed to slightly overwhelming proportions. I think if things were less intense on the home front I’d have jumped on that snowball and enjoyed the ride. I’d have taken up the book offers, the chance to appear on tv with my cakes (kept that one quiet didn’t I!) and the other wonderful opportunities that have come my way but I don’t have the drive anymore – just a longing for calm and quiet! Getting old you see!

Anyway, nuff about all that and on to some knitting!

Tinies

This week I’ve been in a mood for tiny things and have been making lots of teeny tiny toys and some snacks for them too! If you’d like to make your own tiny cake the instructions are now over with the pattern for the teeny toys.

Bowl

I like the idea of making a few for Amy’s friends, maybe with a little sleeping bag each or in a wee box. This lot are just awaiting their limbs – poor things look like little peanuts!

  1. I do like the peanuts;-) But the little tiny cake is also really great. Friday we are going on holiday, I think I will knit some little peanuts with limbs and cake;-)

  2. You keep quiet about anything you like. yes you could have a career as a knitting superstar, but to us you already have. Books etc will wait. Now enjoy what you are doing and the moaners can go to other blogs. (not that there are any other Julie’s cotton rabbits worth knowing on the net);0)

  3. Didn’t you keep a lot of things quiet there Missus?! I should think those requests and all the love from the last post will be enough external validation for those down days, because we all have them don’t we?
Don’t you think the peanuts would be funny just left as peanuts?

  5. I agree with Trashy – a bowl of knitted peanuts would make me laugh. And I am very glad you’re happy 🙂 But now I have a small gripe – how could you post patterns for such irresistible tinies – and the thought of sleeping bags for them, aargh – when my ‘to make’ list is already full to bursting and I have enoughs WIPs to fill a trunk?! Oh well, I always did think sleep was overrated 😉

  12. Julie,
I am glad that you were able to hear some positive feedback to help put your mind at ease and let you go on creating your wonderul little wonderfulnessess (that’s a word Im SURE!). You don’t owe anyone out in blog land any explainations as far as I can see…but other people, me included, owe you a debt of gratitude. I love those little peanut bunny bodies. I’m glad I’m not the only one who saw ‘the peanut within’! I wish I could knit! Jen

  13. I love your work, you are an artist! And I hope I will have a chance to purchase one of your lovely knitted toys but I think you should not feel guilty if you cannot satisfy everyone. Just do what you can and have fun!

  14. Congratulations on yet another adorable critter! And his little snack is just perfect.
The only person you NEED to please is yourself, so if all you want to do is knit … then knit! It’s just a happy by-product that so many people get pleasure from seeing all your delightful creations.

  15. Julie, you’re a gem.
It so disappoints me that people could send out criticism towards you just because they’ve been unable to obtain one of your creations. The greed is bewildering. You’ve been so generous in pondering ways to please as many people as possible.
I don’t mean to sound self-righteous, but if I’m never able to purchase one of your critters, then so be it. I’m delighted just looking at the pictures. Thanks for putting such joy into our world.

  16. Hooray for ‘happy’ now we just have to get rid of ‘old’ and ‘bag’ – lets see – Happy young …. what’s the opposite of ‘bag’? lets try ‘Goddess’? I have just been described thus by Annie on my blog and it felt very nice!
Miniature peanut toys are lovely – how much smaller can you get and still be seen by the naked eye? And mass presents for friends – certainly a crowd pleaser – yes – Goddess it is!

  17. I love the teeny tinies – especially your pic with the little cake. I am glad things are working out better for you now. I can understand you wanting to have some peace with your ‘hobby gone wild’ (I love that!) but the tv appearance with your cakes must have been a little bit tempting…? Well done you for standing strong in what you wanted from it all. x

  21. Hi – you have a real talent. I find knitting tiny things so awkward and fiddly that I get myself worked into a grumpity grump and give up. I guess that’s because everyone is different!

I enjoy your shared patterns. Can’t wait to try some of your tiny toys. Just perfect for little fingers.
