Almost finished fluffies

Finished_fluffies

This week I’ve been having fun mixing mohair with wool and alpaca and I’m
really pleased with the results (although I have to say that I admire
Lisa even more because I found the mohair very fiddly to knit with and
kept snagging it!). I’m also not as brave as her as the thought of popping them into the washing machine to felt them is too scary for me!

These two just need some clothes, which will keep me busy over the weekend. Incidentally Sunday (oops – it’s Saturday, thanks Roo!) is world-wide knit in public day – you can check out events in your area or just go out and do it on your own!

Whatever you do this weekend, have fun!

  1. Ooh I just love that cute little rabbit! How brave of you to knit with those wool combinations, I only ever tried once and the result was terrible due to all the yarn splitting I did. Can’t wait to see them both dresed up, will they be boys or girls…I look forward to finding out.

  3. Oh how I covet that rabbit! He is truly beautiful. Any chance there will be any for the shop? I can just see him and Little Green Rabbit being the best of friends……

  4. They are truly gorgeous! I am no expert but honestly felting is really easy – I think the rabbit especially would felt well. Why don’t you knit up a square and felt that – then you could see what it would look like? Just put it in the washing machine with a normal wash – it has to be in with something else otherwise it doesn’t work properly. It has to be 40 degrees or above too. Worth a try. xxxx

  5. Little fluffies as gorgeous as ever =) I’m off to knit in a park tomorrow, but typical England, it’s going to be pouring down!
We’re getting there early so we can snag the bandstand!

  6. Curly fur! What a triumph! There’s not a convenient event near me, but I may knit in the park if it’s summy. I’m sure that counts.

  7. Your new knitting looks gorgeous! And I can’t wait to tell Dorothy about WWKIP! She always complains if I try to knit or crochet in the park because it’s “not an appropriate place”!!!! She’s only 10!

  8. They are both gorgeous but the curly rabbit does it for me – adorable! You can felt by hand if you like – takes longer but you can oversee the process as it goes. Tiring and hot on your hands though.

  9. Those are adorable! And I agree, mohair is a fiddly sort of yarn to work with. Knit in public on Saturday? Okay . . . I need to start a new pair of socks anyway. 🙂

  10. I love your fuzzy bunny! Someone else in Blogland (Domesticali I think) was reminding us all of that wonderful childhood rhyme:
    Fuzzy Wuzzy was a Bear
    Fuzzy Wuzzy had no hair
    Fuzzy Wuzzy wasn’t fuzzy
    Was he???
It would be perfect for a fuzzy teddy. My favourite toy as a child (I had it till it got lost at the age of 35) was a mohair octopus – went to bed with me every night! I liked tickling my nose!

  11. I LOVE your new Rabbit. He is just too cute for words! Please can you make some to sell? Please, pleeassssssseeeeeeeee, PRETTY PLEASE?
I think he is much nicer as he is, please don’t felt him! (Is that rude?)
I would happily pay extra for the extra time taken to knit him.
Oh please say yes Julie, pretty please, pretty, pretty, pretty please?

  13. Julie,
I love the brown bunny? Are you going to be selling him/her perhaps? Also, do you make your knitted mini mitten ornaments for sale? Please advise. Thank you!

  14. Did anyone else notice bunny’s ears?
They are so completely adorable all floppy to the sides.
He looks vintage….the kind of bunny you would find in a chic antique store.
Can’t wait to see all the new babies in the next shop sale!

  16. Oh! Those are so cute! I love the loopy texture on the rabbit – perfectly snuggleable! We are fortunate to live next to an Alpaca farm http://www.azsualpacas.com (worth a visit to see the cutest pictures of our neighbours!) and the items in the store are so very soft so I have an idea your lovely knits must the most beautiful texture too! I’m sure the alpacas would approve! t.x

  20. That bookshelf was intriguing. Anne Tyler, mistress of the everyday. Carol Shields’ – I love her work and Happenstance is one of my favourites; and I’ve just re-read and enjoyed Larry’s Party. And Jane Gardam, an understated and hidden treasure. No wonder I like your little cotton rabbits too.

Reminds me of the rhyme about “Little Bunny FooFoo” (Little Bunny FooFoo, I don’t want to see you, chasing all the field mice and bopping them on the head!)

  23. Hello,
I just love this bunny! It’s adorable. I love the mix: is it mohair, alpaca, & wool? What yarn did you use? I was trying to order some Farm Yarn but they’re not available in the USA. bump ;0(
I’m saving the picture of the bunny on my desktop. Thanks for your great work.
