I just wanted to quickly thank everyone for leaving such kind comments on the previous post. It shouldn’t happen to anyone – it’s not nice to be reminded that not everyone surfing the internet has good intentions at heart. It is however something faced by most crafters creating individually styled work. It’s demoralising but it definitely won’t stop me from doing what I love.
Anyway, I shall go into the weekend feeling high as a kite by all of the supportive and complimentary things that you took the time to write. So here’s wishing you a wonderful weekend from Penelope and me!
PS: Remember there is still a week until the close of the 2nd Annual Softie awards so there’s still time to make your softie, photograph it and get it entered. I’ve entered Penelope in the pink or plaid section and there are 4 other categories too.

Oh dear she’s cute – like a take your breath away type cute. I love her .

Ooh, Penelope is a perfect, pretty, pink porker! Good luck in the awards.
And sorry to read about those brash imposters in your last post, how upsetting for you. As everyone else said though …. they’re really not a patch on THE LCR’s ….

Penelope is LOVELY! And remember, folks may try to copy your work, but it is only an attempt to copy. No one can totally reproduce the lovely work that you do. It definitely comes from your heart…:) mare

Hi – I wanted to comment on the previous post also but by the time I was half-way through the comments, everything had been said. But I concur and it’s crapola that people suck so bad. And your toys are by far, the cutest I’ve seen anywhere.

I am sorry to hear people are blatantly knocking off your bunnies. Whoever knitted your bunnies certainly copied them to the last letter, but boy are they UGLY! What a bad attempt at copying, atleast they should have had the decency to change the clothes pattern, then they would look nothing like your bunnies. Besides, I would never buy anything that hideous if I could get the genuine Julie bunny 😉
To illustrate that not all copies are with malicious intent I want to share this bunny that was knitted by a very good friend of mine (she used the Debbie Bliss toybook pattern as a guide) for a girlfriend who gave birth at just under 23 weeks. I was hoping to send my friend an original “Little Cotton rabbits” rabbit for Easter, but alas non were for sale at the time so I had to make do with a poor “copy” 😉 My friend loves red and white, so hence the red & white colours

scroll down to the bottom to see the rabbit, and don’t laugh! Everyone asked me where I got the rabbit from so I passed them your blog address, funny how I saw it as “your” rabbit even though it was knitted by my friend. I guess not everyone thinks this way.
Cheers,

RE THOSE YUCKY COPIES – I think it is like trying to “clone” a loved one…there is no way you could ever put the same heart and soul and uniqueness in the copy – the very ‘essence’ of the “Little Cotton Rabbits” is what makes them so very, very special, adorable and “Hugable, Lovable, Snugable”. Don’t let it hold you back, you are a very special soul who puts her own heart and soul in each Little Cotton Rabbit, that’s why we all love them so much! XXXX Kim Bunney

How lovely, and how frustrating for you reading your previous post. I do feel that quality will always win in the end and after all its the discerning buyer you want in the end not the ‘get it cheap’bunch.
I truly admire your work.

Sorry to hear that you are having copyright issues again but if it’s any consolation those copies don’t shine a light on the real thing.

Hi Julie,
I am hope you get this message as have ben trying to email you for some time but it keeps bouncing back. Still reading your blog regularly and loving it! I was in my local library a while back now and they had a sale of books – one of them was called A Wild Ride Up The Cupboards by Ann Bauer – it’s about a family with a youngster who has autism – so obviously thought of you and bought it! Can you email me your address so I can mail it to you – hope it’s one you haven’t read – just thought it may be interesting of interest to you.
hope to hear from you soon

having just started using the net more to display my work, I am very aware that copyright is an problem. One web site has just issued a pattern for a rabbit – only for me to see the same one on another site being sold as a kit. I suppose its a risk we take, but I keep reminding myself that I know that what I make I have designed myself 100%.
I love your work, it is beautiful, and the people that really appreciate it know how much effort and thought you put into it – that can’t be coppied!

I’m sorry to read about your designs being copied and sold as somebody elses. I’ve read a lot of posts lately about the same issue. It’s an unpleasant thing, to say at the least, not only in blogland. I have to deal with copyright on a daily base too.
Your work is much more beautiful and is made with passion!

Your little piggy is as lovely as a piggy can get, and she has your unique touch.
I felt slightly uncomfortable when I read your post about people copying your work because I copy you and Barbara a lot! I would never, however, sell any of my toys (I always gives them as gifts); and I almost always mention that I’ve used Barbara’s patterns and your ideas and provide a link to her etsy shop and your website.
The link that you provided to the copier was kind of scary…really. But, as everyone else seems to be saying, it’s obvious that they’re not yours. It’s kind of the same as Walmart having designs that remotely look like Prada or something, I guess. And since I once again didn’t come close to being able to buy one of your latest batch of toys, she’s obviously not cutting into your business. That’s for sure.

Ohmygosh Julie!!! Penelope is just adorable! Wow — I just love all the pinkness of her! And you know, if I saw those copycats out somewhere, I’d know right away they aren’t yours — they just don’t look the same — they’re too fat or something. Something being they just don’t have your touch!

I think your discussion of copyright issues was tastefully done. It’s a touchy subject for some, but I think it was worth discussing and I hope you don’t encounter such problems in the future.
