Just a quick note to say that I may not get your email if you send it at the moment as my email address has been hijacked by some xxxxxx and so my inbox is constantly filling up with returned spam emails!
I’ll try and sort out a new address and post details soon.
Anyone else had a similar problem? If you have any advice please let me know!
Hi Julie – what a bummer! The best way (I think) to deal with your problem is to actually get a brand new email account, and you can have an automatic message that gives out your new email. Then simply close the other one after a while (when you think everyone important to you knows your new email). Spam is computer generated, and machines have ‘guessed’ your email address. Now they will just keep on sending to it. They are very unlikely to get your auto-message as they often do not even receive, simply send. Give it a shot! Good luck in keeping your cool with these dudes…

Does your email have a spam filter? There are also spam programs available that will winnow through the spam, and also ask people to confirm their messages before it’s sent to your email.

Hi-
Ive had that problem. I was realy needing some emails form my ex husband for court, and someone hi-jacked mine. Ends up it was an employee of mine to XX me over. Stupid teenagers…
Luckily I was able to recover through painstaking talks with yahoo, and then FWD everything I needed to a new acct, and delete the old one.
Maybe you can recover it for a short period to save any info you need?
Hope it all works out for you 🙂

First you need to determine whether the emails are the result of a virus that is spoofing your email address (there are several of this type) or whether a spammer is using your email address as a cover to hide the actual source of emails.
Alternately, it could be spam that is constructed to look like a returned email to get you to open it.
What is the subject line for the emails? Are they all the same or are they different? If they are all the same try running a google search with the subject line in quotes to see if it’s from a known virus.
Can you view the message header information to see the source email server/domain?
There are several options that you can try before creating a new email address, but which one is most appropriate depends on the specific problem you’re having. I’m happy to help if you want to send me more information by email. (denise AT yinandyarn DOT com )
here’s a site that has lots of info about fighting spam:

Hi Julie
I have had a problem getting through to Dave via my Ntl (Virgin) account. His ISP (Comcast) are blocking my ISP as spam. Reported this to Virgin and they are aware of it and have been since May!!!! What??? Using Yahoo for email to him. It’s so annoying. He also told me he knows of someone else who is having problems contacting him and this is a different ISP.

G’day Julie,
I no longer have my email address located on my web site as I constantly get spam. One day I had over 20 spam emails in one go, it’s so annoying. I have used an Outlook Express filter on certain words and used the “block sender” thing, that has helped to reduce the number, but it’s still a pain. You may need to delete you email from this site and ask that people leave you a comment if they want to get in touch.
Hope thing improve.

That stinks! I was going to say you’d just have to start fresh with a new e-mail, but I can see you’ve already done that.

Don’t you just hate that? One of my email addresses gets x-rated spam and it annoys me to death, but I don’t think there’s anything to do but change it.
