A round the world trip…

Talking of giveaways, do you remember my 100th post giveaway won by Jessica at Kerflop back in June? Well, I made a bunny, packaged her up and off she went on her way to Idaho, USA. But the days and weeks passed and she didn’t arrive and as the weeks turned to months we had to assume the worst and consider that we might never see her again and so I made another for Jessica. This was my first ever missing parcel and I felt quite sad as each toy becomes a little individual personality and I don’t like to think of any of them lost and alone! I secretly hoped that the first bunny had found a happy home somewhere
and not met an untimely end mangled in some postal equipment or dropped
out of a plane. Anyway, it turns out that my fears were unjustified as last week this arrived…

and inside, a little battered and squashed but still looking happy I found bunny.

So my faith in the postal service has been restored – quite amazing when you think she has travelled half way around the world and found her way back home again! In view of the fact that she came back I think I’m going to keep her as my lucky mascot. Meanwhile, I’m really pleased to report that this little bunny has reached Jessica at Kerflop who gets a gold star for her patience!

  1. She still lokks very refreshed after her long haul flights! Pleased it was a happy ending…….I think you’re right to keep her,she obviously wants to stay.
I sent a reborn doll to Uk a few months ago,she didn’t arrive at her destination, then 3 months later she came back to Spain, having been to America! She finally made it to her new mummy though!

  2. I often wondered if you kept very many Rabbits for yourself. They are so very, very sweet, it must be hard to let any of them go!
I think you should start a policy:
**Every Rabbit that finds a home is required to report back to you about their new adopted family WITH a photo of their new location!
The updates on each one is my favorite part of your blog especially the ones that make it AROUND the world!

  3. Yes she did want to be back with her creator. I know what you mean when you say they start to develop a personality. I use to make bunnies out of tea-dyed fabric and old fabrics, they were so cute, and just seemed to have “expressions”. They are all so adorable, again you are very talented!!!

  4. You make so many beautifully knitted toys, and I am sure that one little bunny was destined to be yours. I had a similar problem last year when Manda from Tree Fall Design sent me a sock pup, and when it didnt arrive she received it a few weeks later and had to resend him off. I wonder why this happens.

  5. Yey! A happy ending 🙂 I’m so glad she came back. It is nerve-wracking when something you’ve put so much effort into seems to go missing. I find it VERY hard to part with my crocheted pigeons. Isn’t it strange how attached you can get to woolly things with faces?

  6. She’s a very pretty bunny and looks so pleased to be back home. Perhaps she decided that she’d rather stay at home to help you create more friends to send across the world.
