general stuff

My blog is 1 year old!

I first posted on September 3rd 2006 – and what a fabulous adventure the last year has been! Through this blog I’ve met some wonderful people, made lots of new friends and felt comfortable enough to bear my soul to a sympathetic and kind-spirited group of lovely people – yes you! There are so many callous, cruel and malicious things going on in the world and reading the warm and friendly comments that I get here is the perfect antidote. I’m grateful for the warmth I’ve found here and I deeply appreciate that you take the time to visit and leave me comments.

The children are back at school today. Luckily the morning routine went without too many hitches (apart from me chipping my favourite mug) and now I’m getting on with the business of soaking up some peace and quiet, and of course drinking tea (from my poor old chipped mug) and knitting!

Cuppa

Anyway, seeing as this is my 1 year anniversary I thought I’d have another giveaway. So if you fancy winning yourself a little cotton cupcake then leave a comment (just say Hi if nothing else comes to mind) and in a week I’ll do a random prize draw.

Cakes

Thanks again for visiting x

  1. Hi Julie,
first of all HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your wonderful blog. Even if I did not read it for the whole of last year (I discovered it just a couple of months ago) you can be sure I will do it for the next one! I love your knitting and your way of writing.
Also my daughter will be back in school soon and I’m very looking forward to be back in the old, nice school days atmosphere.
Your knitted cupcakes are so lovely that only looking at the picture makes me smile: they are the perfect birthday treat!
All the best to you and your kids

I much enjoy your blog, with its honesty and insights, creative inspiration and beautiful photographs. Tucker the bunny is enjoying life in Brooklyn, NY, sharing a crib with my feisty 15-month-old daughter.

  3. Well as Bartholomew is being weaned as we speak, he would love to get his gums into a little cake. Family are all doing well, Alfie and Blossom are proving to be very dedicated parents and are taking great care of their new son. Personally I think he’s got them wrapped around his little fingers, they spoil him rotten, but he’s worth it!

And I see that your day was lovely and sunny, as was ours here in Dublin on the children’s first day of school. Funny how some of the most beautiful days happen then. Could it be a ‘cosmic’ response to the collective happiness of parents everywhere?

I was just thinking about how the first day of school always seems to so beautiful, even here in Minneapolis. I think Monica is really on to something! Anyway, best wishes for the coming year!

I echo what Terry says, the things you make are amazing, and as I’m now the mother of a 7 week old little girl I have an even greater admiration for you and any crafter with children who produces anything, never mind things as great as you make.

  125. Wow! 239 comments already, Julie. Well I guess chances for winning are slim, but that doesn’t matter. I really want to congratulate you on your blogiversary. Your blog is certainly one of my favorites. Everything you make is adorable. I really hope that one of your cute rabbits will one day live at our place. Can’t wait to see what’s going to happen during the next year!

  127. A knitted cake?! Whatever will they think of next? It would be very welcome at my house where I would find a good home for it just down at the bottom of the hill in my painting teacher’s studio.
Congratulations on one whole fabulous year in Blogland.
