Happy New Year

We've mostly had a busy and fun Christmas – hope yours was too. Christmas day wasn't the best, as we were all sick with a 24 hour tummy bug – of all the days in the year to go down with it! Still, we've postponed Christmas dinner until New Year's eve when it will hopefully taste just as good. We did manage present opening on the day which buoyed Amy up for a while and the rest of the day was spent sipping water, running to the loo (and finding someone was already in it – houses SHOULD NOT be built with only one loo!) and lying around groaning on the sofas. Once we recovered, we got together with family and caught up with the Christmas spirit. While I was staying with my Mum & Dad for a few days I rediscovered
some books from my childhood that had been squirrelled away in the
attic. Turning the pages was like journeying back in time. I
love the illustrations and the stories are just as good today. I'll be
working my way through them with Amy in our regular bedtime reading
slot.

The only knitting to show so far is Billy who I finished for my friend's new nephew. I have lots of toys in progress and once the kids
are back at school I'll be finishing them off and popping them in the
shop – more news on them to follow.

Wishing you all a fun time on New Year's Eve and a happy, peaceful and prosperous New Year.

  1. So sorry that Christmas Day found you poorly – but so glad that you are back now. Billy is lovely, one of my New Years Resolutions is to become the proud owner of one of your bunnies – i wonder which one it will be……….. cannot wait!!!!

  2. Thank you so much for your comment and having us on your blog list. I had those books as a girl also! The memories they bring back! I am desperately trying to find a book I had which has something to do with making strawberry jam. Anyway, your site is just wonderful! I wish I could take a knitting lesson from you! Happy new year! I look forward to returning often.

  3. Poor you – bugs should be banned at Christmas. Your book is wonderful – I love reading things to my kids which stir faint childhood memories. Happy New Year to you all.

  4. Oh I am sorry your Christmas was spoilt, I hope tonight brings many smiles and lots of good cheer. We too have been struck by the dreaded tummy bug and had to cut our summer holiday short, I know just what you mean about lying around groaning on the sofas.
Thankyou for a lovely blog to come and read and good luck for 2007.

  5. Happy New Year Julie to you and your family. Sorry to hear that you were unwell on Christmas Day. Sophie loves her ballerina bunny who she has named Skye! Isobel was very pleased with Boris the monkey. I like the little book you found from your childhood and the new bunny is a delight. Thank you for your kind words also.

  6. Hi Julie. You needn’t reply to my email as I’ve just read your post about why your having xmas dinner today instead! We had the bug in our house too, arrived xmas eve and lasted 4 days. Only two of us had it though and I was the only one who ate our xmas feast. What a disaster! Like yourself, we plan to do it again in a couple of weeks with another family, so it should be great fun.
Thanks so much for designing my blogs banner, I’m about to upload it, well try to at least! x

  7. hi! just going through some of your archives – i LOVE this book! i found it at a used book store – and have cut it up to use for crafts. I need about 2 more copies – one to keep! 🙂
