Lions free supplement pattern

Everything seems to be taking much longer than usual at the moment and since Toby went back to school it has felt like I’ve been really busy but not actually getting anything done. I have however managed to finish off the free Lions supplement pattern and have just uploaded it to the Facebook group and Ravelry:

New Lions supplement pattern

This pattern is a free one and therefore only gives basic instructions on converting the existing 9 inch bear patterns – you’ll need either of the Boy Bear or Girl bear patterns in order to knit a complete Lion or Lioness.

If I had to guess, I expect that the boy Lion is going to be the more popular make of the two and I have had fun making a few myself during the process of working out the pattern. There should be a health warning attached though – that mane really tests the patience and is not something to tackle if you’re in a hurry 😉

As always, I hope that this pattern helps spread a little pleasure and enjoyment out there, things that seem harder than ever to find and hang on to right now. Hope you’re finding a little of each in your days. I’m finding mine out in the peace and tranquility of the quiet woods and have a few pictures to share in the next post.

‘Til next time xxx

  1. The gorgeous lion pattern, freely given, is just the boost of pleasure we all need at the moment. I hope when you read all the messages of thanks that you have a similar boost! Think about the huge number of people from your Ravelry and Facebook websites who are now busily and happily planning to make a lion and at least double it to the pleasure the recipient of the lions will have.
That’s a whole lot of happiness when the world needs all it can get xxx

I wonder if you could tell me where I can send for the yarn n the UK . Many thanks for all your patterns . They have been a great comfort in these very difficult times . Regards Jane W xx

  5. I was/am so excited about this lion! A friend’s grandson has been named Leo so she asked if I could make him a lion. I went directly to your patterns. Of your patterns, I have made several bunnies…(all just adorable) and foxes but this lion! Gosh! Not sweeter than the bunnies but just adorable.
Seeing as I’ve made Leo lion for a 3 month old, I’ve chosen to use a chenille yarn…it’s soft and the colour I found was perfect for a lion…and a baby…so that happened….but the yarn is quite a bit bulkier than the usual wool I have used. He’s turned out to be a 13 inch long, 10 inch waistline king of the jungle. My difficulty now is trying to enlarge the sweater. I’ve used your alphabet ‘L’’ to place on the front of your plain knit sweater…that’s fine…but my ratios are way out of whack when trying to enlarge the sweater and sleeves. Do you have any suggestions for a rather non-creative knitter as to how to increase your sweater pattern for my lion’s size?
    Thanks so much
