Easter Bunny

For most of this year I've been trying to keep my focus on new pattern writing but as always seems the way I've been finding it hard to do so and have been flitting from one thing to another. With Easter fast approaching I've found myself drawn to making some bunny cosies. It's been a few years since I made any of these and it's been nice to revisit the pattern. As a result I've made a few tweaks and have written up a little change to the arms to give a new look.

You can find the pattern tweak notes over on the Ravelry pattern page (where you can also buy the original pattern if you fancy giving one a go). Though they're obviously great for Easter, I think they'd make a nice present on Mother's Day too, (which is a week today here in the UK). I have my fingers crossed that come next Sunday morning I'll be on the receiving end of a breakfast tray laden like this, though I will not be holding my breath!

Hope you have a good week x

  2. Oh that is divine Julie, absolutely divine. I do hope you get a lovely breakfast tray like that. We were laughing at cricket earlier, it seems that Mother’s Day doesn’t happen in most of the people’s houses. Just another full-on normal day. CJ xx

  5. Awww, lovely!! I am sending you a virtual breakfast tray, to magically arrive just as you wake up, with a nice cuppa tea, some hot buttered toast, and a perfectly boiled egg, wearing it’s bunny warmer!

  6. I bought this pattern back in 2010 and have been knitting it every Easter for some child or other. I didn’t think it could be improved.

  7. Super cute! So adorable I could take up knitting! Not the easiest creation to start with, I suppose, but ever so adorable.

  8. The life with which you manage to touch each one of your enchanting animals speaks volumes about how lovely you are. I hope you are treated with not just a tray but a whole day of the pampering you deserve.

  14. Dear Julie (did I get it right?)
I love your knitted rabbits, and would like to buy one. I have a warm spot in my heart for rabbits, as Kaninchen (Rabbit) is my sweetheart’s pet name for me. We met because I had written a book about mechanical movement for puppets and automata (Figures in the Fourth Dimension) which he loved. He blogged about it, and wrote several reviews for German magazines, and even brought the book to a famous bookstore in Cologne; they now carry the book. When I met him online (he is a retired German teacher living in Bonn) his health was severely compromised. He had diabetes, rampant Lyme disease, and so much trouble with his feet and legs that he couldn’t walk for longer than 20 minutes. I had invited him to come for a visit to New York, where I live, but he was very worried about the state of his health and feared a trip abroad.
I am a bit of an “alternative medicine believer” and I sent him a nutritional program and suggested he follow it. He did, and has now completely recovered from all his medical problems. He can walk all day long, his diabetes and Lyme are gone, and his medical tests show everything normal. He call me the Kaninchen because I am very fond of salads and carrot juice…dishes which he too has grown to love.
That is our little story. Hence my fondness for rabbits.
I also notice that you have a son on the autistic spectrum. There is information on how to help this condition….it is sometimes brought about because of the heavy metals and other contaminants in vaccines, and detoxification can often make the condition better. I could try to research this a bit if you are interested.
Anyway, let me know if you’d care to make and sell me a rabbit. I have one or two that I saw online, which I love; my sweetheart used a picture of one of them when he wrote thanking me for helping him get well, and christening me as Kaninchen.
    Warmly, Ellen Rixford
