…is what I have right now from having spent the afternoon making chocolate cupcakes with vanilla buttercream for Amy's school spring fair tomorrow.
Luckily there were 3 that wouldn't fit into the cake boxes; one for Amy, one for H and one for Toby and me to share. He'll lick the buttercream off and I'll be left with the cakey bit, which suits me fine right now as I've already licked the spatula and the bowl and the thought of more buttercream is a little sickly right now!
Well, I better go and do the washing up – I seem to have made rather a lot of it! Wishing you a fun weekend wherever you are.
They look so professional. I hope the fair goes well… and enjoy your cakey bit!

Lovely cakes Julie! Picture perfect: sure they’ll sell brilliantly tomorrow. My sister makes cakes too and I gorge myself on the leftover icing: it’s the best part!

Oh, Jules – I’ve been running like a march hare!! I made a cake myself, just Tuesday – and it was wonderful to have the house warm and fragrant inside (as opposed to drowned and dripping outside) – except it was for a funeral, and I couldn’t have any anyway. Yes, life is complex. Sigh. But I want some of these. I’d go back to school for a day just to get one. I’d even raise my hand before answering.

Oh wow, those look amazing!! There’s nothing I love more than frosted cupcakes! And how funny, my son eats those cakes the same as Toby!! Licks of all the frosting and leaves me the cakey bit… If it was anyone else, I’d probably pummel them with a shovel, but since it’s the light of my eyes I have to grin and bear it. sigh

We are full up on cake over here too. Mr. C, Mr. J, and The SM all had their birthdays all in a row. Celebrated Mr. C’s Friday night, Mr. J’s yesterday, and The SM’s today……. Cake cake cake…..
Those cupcakes look divine. Even being full of cake. 😀
Personally, I think cooking/baking has to be a full on experience. I taste as I cook through the whole thing. I don’t know how NOT to. 😀

It’s that time of year again! We have cake sales popping up all over the place and it’s hard to keep up. Sad to report the standard is not always up to the ones you made, which look very classy.
