Red & Green

It's tidy up time in my garden. The last of our potatoes, tomatoes, carrots and squash are gathered in for another year with just the parsnips left to be pulled after Christmas, as apparently they grow sweeter after a couple of frosts. I'm left with a bowl of green tomatoes which will probably get turned into chutney.

Around the rest of the garden greens are turning to reds – I do love autumn leaves.

There's even a spot of green and red knitting going on inside. I'm really enjoying playing around with new ideas for a batch of nordic animals which will be ready to find new homes in time for Christmas.

Next week it's forecast to be turning colder and I'm looking forward to getting our fire stoked up and curling up with my wool. Hope you have a snuggly weekend!

  2. Ooo – I think we might light our fire too this weekend and it might prompt me to finishing my new toy! Our little red acer is standing out like a firecracker in our front garden at the moment – I just love the intense colours in the leaves at this time of year. Very festive arrangement of your knitted parts – I can almost smell the pine needles and vin chaude!

  3. Hello Julie,
I am sooo looking forward to see the finished toys. Their clothes look great already. I wonder where you get the inspiration from to knit so many different jumpers! Do you have a big book with scandinavian patterns or do you make them up?

  7. Beautiful leaf photo Julie!
I’ve just put a match to my fire and it’s beginning to crackle. So curling up with my knitting sounds good and I’m always inspired to knit when I see your gorgeous knitting!! Such lovely, lovely designs!
    Have a good weekend. 🙂

  8. Hi Julie
I am loving those Nordic designs and will be doing my best to try and bag one of those when they go on sale (a girls gotta try) I love little Lotta & Lars and have been taking a glance at the calendar throughout the year to see their smiling faces – it won’t be long now until they are on show completely and then that will be another year gone by!
I am with you on the snuggly knitting it is my favourite time of year.
Thanks for asking after hubby he is on the mend – slowly and needs something to do to keep him busy as boredom has well and truly set in – if only he could knit I could keep him busy with my flower brooches as I have lots of fairs coming up.
    Bye for now

  12. My tomato plants will be cleared away today and the remaining green tomatoes will be left on the windowsill to hopefully ripen. I’m savouring the last few homegrown tomatoes.

  15. Honestly, I’ve looked at a lot of sewing/knitting/crafting blogs, and I’ve seen a lot of fun things, but your animals and knits are over the top great. Thanks for posting their pictures online, so that we around the world can see your darling work. I’d love to purchase one, but am happy just to be able to see them. I keep coming back to peek!

  16. I am looking forward to cooler weather. I know that the garden is out until spring but the cold weather offers great things, too. I love to grow winter crops. This keep fresh vegetables coming in all the time.
