Well, last weekend was kind to us weather-wise although autumn really feels like it's arrived and we've definitely lost the summer warmth in the sun. The garden has produced lots to eat this year…
with some more still to come. We've had an enormous crop of plums but it has taken it's toll on the tree – the weight of all that fruit along with the heavy rain and winds a few weeks back has snapped a main bough and after some heavy tree surgery the poor tree looks rather lopsided and sparse. I just hope that it survives as I love having it in our garden and the plums make fab jam…
Toby has continued to settle nicely into the term time routine and things are beginning to feel relaxed again although I'm not sure that feeling will last long as during the next month we have to choose a senior school for Amy. There will be lots of umming and ahhing and visiting potential schools – I just hope we can get it right for her.
Still, for now autumn feels peaceful and productive and we're enjoying making the most of being outside before the colder, wetter winter weather arrives.
Isn’t it autumnal today? I could hardly believe it when the alarm went off and it was still semi dark outside.
I love bright autumn days but grey ones – ugh.
Glad school seems to be going well at the moment, but good luck with the decision making …

Glad to hear Toby is more settled , choosing schools isn’t easy is it … We pass an apple tree several times a day as it’s right next to the school, they never get used and I am so tempted to go knock on the door and ask if I could have some !!

I am completely ready for autumn to come! Call me wierd but I’m quite looking forwards to winter too. But I wanted to comment on your amazing bowl full of plums. I made plum jam this year for the first time and whilst I over-boiled it so I have to eat it with a spoon it’s so yummy!

It’s been so wet today and cold. Your harvest looks wonderful – my efforts this year have been rather pathetic. Glad Toby has settled. The school choosing is a headache, but I’m sure you’ll find the right one.

Your harvest looks great! It reminds me that I must collect our apples before the wind blows them all on the floor! I’ve still got a freezer full of damsons from last year which I really must do something with but just need the right jam recipe to do them justice! Maybe I’ll just make more damson gin instead….! Good to hear peace reigns too.

Oh it all looks gorgeous. Hope your tree recovers for next year. One of our old apples went the same way this summer as it was so laden. Ah well x

What a harvest.Glad Toby has settled again. We have some friends and their son is autistic. He is 10 now and can be quite violent. They have had to have training in how to deal with him. They have at long last managed to get 2 nights respite every 2 weeks which is something.Battling with bureaucracy is their main headache.

Your harvest looks fabulous. Best of luck with your school hunting. It’s such a monumental decision isn’t it? We’re still two years away from making it and I’m already on my toes jumping from one choice to the other. Around here the Spring has tried to poke it’s nose through the door but Old Man Winter still has his toe in the door….the bathroom door by the look of all the rain we’ve been having! We’ve needed it but now I think we need some dry time so the dog can fight off evolving webbed paws! Have a great day my friend! Jen

Wonderful harvest – there isn’t much of anything better than fresh green beans! Cute squash!
Have you read about the attraction kiddos with autism have with Ipad? It has been helpful for some. I hope you find a school match for Amy.

Your harvest looks fantastic! It is a wonderful feeling to know that you have grown all this wonderful food straight from your garden and carbon emissions free! I am very impressed with your onions, it can be hit and miss when it comes to digging them up leave them too long and they rot, but yours look just perfect! Glad to hear Toby has settled down. Our Leo is having issues with crossing the road he freezes up half way across the street and has some sort of a silent meltdown and then starts climbing up my legs, he has become very frightened of cars. I think a social story is due for this little hiccup. Have a good week.
