spring at last!

Here in our garden there's one true sign that spring has arrived – the blossoming of our old plum tree.

She pretties herself up with masses of frothy white blossom and if you wander around the garden at dusk there's such a delicate, beautiful scent in the air – for me the signature scent of spring.

It's late this year though. When I look back at previous years posts about blossoming they were all in february or march and this year here we are in April.

Still better late than never as they say! Time to get planting the veg beds in earnest now.

  1. Beautiful photos of the blossom. We’ve got plum, apple, pear and cherry trees in the garden and not one of them is showing any sign of blossom whatsoever as yet. It’s all terribly delayed this year.

  2. Wow – what a smothering of blossom!! I haven’t noticed whether there’s any on our old tree at the top of the garden yet. But then it hasn’t been performing so well these last couple of years 😦

  3. It was your photos of this very tree last year than made me realise our plum tree was a little unwell. Turned out it was terminally unwell – shrivelled up and died, then got chopped down. So sadly all our plums this year will be from Sainsbury’s.

  4. Ohh so beautiful! I have an Autistic son as well, Brody is almost 6. It is so wonderful to see that you create these gorgeous lil bunnies- goes to show that we Mums with children whom have a disability can still be very productive!

  5. Hello Julie,
I read your blog a lot but this is the first time I’ve commented. Fellow Brit here, also with a late-blossoming garden. I adore blossom – your old plum tree puts on quite a show!

  7. A lovely tree, Julie! Does it bear much fruit for the family? I think Spring and Autumn are my favourite seasons….but I can happily do without the bees!
