There's still a real contrast between inside and outside here. I have my fingers crossed for a thaw and for the schools to be open this week but for now with more snow forecast it's not looking good! Hope you're keeping warm if you're in the grip of the icy weather!
It’s melting a little bit here today, and since we got in fine on Friday, I’m hoping we’re back to normal on Monday. Your icicles are pretty!

Snow falling fast here but seems to be melting a bit on roofs and the drive turning to sleety rain. It’ll be a bit icy if temperatures drop later but it’s the first time I’ve seen any part of our driveway since Tuesday! Keep warm and safe.

we’ve had a complete change from -10 yesterday to 4 today, a lot of the snow has melted and we have streams of water running down the gutters – forecast is for more snow tho

I don’t believe the weather forecasts for here any more – they’ve been wrong for us every day so far this week!
Hope you thaw out – we are definitely seeing a thaw here but it is trying to snow so we’ll see.

We’re having the same weather here in Kansas! The schools were closed all week due to snow storms and freezing temps…we were pretty much stuck inside for 5 days. Too cold to even build a snowman with the 12″ in the back yard. Ah well.

If you can believe it we had a sprinkling of snow here in Florida!! My kids were so thrilled and I had to post pictures on my blog! But it doesn’t look like our little cold snap is anything compared to yours! Stay warm and safe!!

They’re starting to talk about another mini ice age – like the one that happened in England during the Victorian period. Oh, joy.

We have between 12-18 inches of snow and are well and truly snowed in. We now have a luge in the garden – it’s our ‘path’ to the lane. We’ve had no post since last Tuesday, no refuse collections, no nothing! Neighbours who have managed to walk into town with the aid of ski poles, say that the roads are lethal and the supermarket car parks like ice-rinks. I am praying for a thaw so we can get some food … and drugs!

Hope you’ve enjoyed a similar thaw to the one we’ve experience today. Still a bit clinging to the pavements, gardens etc but the roads are clear – and what a treat to not have to scrape ice off the car this morning!
Happy toasting (by the fire) x

I can’t tell you how warm we are during your winter! We’re having such hot days here that all we can do is stay indoors with the drapes drawn trying to keep the heat at bay!

I hope the school are already open. I have seen the terrible conditions on the BBC news. There is snow and frost in Holland, bur not as bad as in your country! Antje

Wow. Here in Wisconsin, they usually won’t close the schools unless we have at least a foot of snow and/or the temps are below 30 F below! We NEVER close for more than one day. That’s the problem with having this weather on a regular basis; they expect us to deal with it!

It’s hard to imagine it being so cold….we have just had another 42c day here in Australia. It was so hot….all on the lookout for bushfires too. Keep warm. Linda 🙂

Hello .. I don’t mean to alarm you, maybe you already know ?? I just bought a cd of knitting patterns on ebay … received it today and it has all your free patterns on it. I had already made the tiny toys before christmas and was shocked to see them and other free patterns from you on there. The cd cost me £2 – £3 and was a waste of money. The only good patterns being yours and a bunny from a magazine. Very fradulant. Sorry to rain dome and gloom on your day. But I thought if I was you I would want to know. I am going to let ebay know aswell.

Hi there, Hope you don’t mind but I have a quick question, well two actually. 1 – how do you keep your stove so clean?? I have tried all sorts to clean mine but it still looks so dusty and there must be something I can do other than spray paint it … which is what the shop suggested.
2 – Do you have or know anyone that has a small knitted lamb pattern?? Michelle xx

Hi Julie – It’s so unfair – I kept my fingers so tightly crossed that the children WOULD be off school with the snow so I could stay at home with them but sadly it never happened :o(

Hi Julie,
I can’t believe how cold it is up your way! We’ve been sweltering down south, most days 40 + degrees. Will send some heat your way to melt all that snow 😉
cheers,

It was lovely to start with but I’m glad ours has melted now. Mind you, it seems there may be a bit more on the way this week!
I remember this from my childhood up north in Birmingham. They call it winter up there!
Our hens weren’t impressed either.
