chicken antics!

I topped up the chicken's dust bath yesterday.

At first it was an orderly affair

then there were 2 in on the act

2chickens

and eventually all three were crammed into the pot

3chickens

Daft creatures they are at times, but great entertainment!

  1. I would love to see a video of that! How funny they are, I would love to have some but since I am in the middle of town, not likely.

  2. I love it!
We have little fluffy chickens who go into a dust bathing frenzy looking like little balls of white fairy floss and come out looking like tumble weeds!
So lovely to see chickens enjoying their life and being cherished.

  7. Will you be knitting any cute little chicken cuddle dolls? Or, Hen, Chicks and Nest :D. My daughter would be in love. We have 7 chickens at home and my sweet girl loves them all.

  8. did you have grass in the chicken pen or is it bark chippings all the way? My parents had grass but now it is bare earth as the chickens lover eating all the grass! As they have plenty of earth they don’t provide them with an earth bath, instead they have made their own! I love collecting the egss as does my two year old!

  9. 🙂 They’re charming. It’s partially the fault of your cute chickens that I now have my own chickens! I have five Rhode Island Reds about half-grown and six baby Buff Orpingtons that are 3 weeks old.

  10. Chickens are such wonderfully silly creatures aren’t they? I live in town now but chickens and bluebells are the two things I miss the most from my previous life in the country. And maybe my Rayburn. I think I’d better stop there! Lovely pictures.

  11. How wonderful! A flower pot of chickens, fluffing themselves up! very funny too, how I wish I could have witnessed that. Reminds me of the birds queing to take a wash in our bird bath, then giving up waiting, and just jumping in together.

  12. Hi, love your site and your chicken photos. I am currently working on an educational power point about caring for backyard chickens and would like to use your picture of two chickens in the dust bath. Please let me know how I can credit this photo with your permission.
