Well, here we are in the last few days of the school year and I’m desperately stocking up with everything that we might need to get us through the school holidays…
new lego for Toby who bites it to bits and then gets very cross when it doesn’t fit!
new colouring books for Amy that will keep her busy for hours (I hope!)
and for me, gorgeously natural, ethically produced, organic alpaca yarn from Farm Yarn
and beads, ribbon and trim from my new favourite on-line haberdasher – Robson & Mason (I love that floral bias binding!)
I’ve also been jotting down ideas left, right and centre and found some great suggestions for keeping Amy busy over on Domesticali and Dottycookie. So, hopefully we’re all set! Now I’m off to soak up the silence and cram in a bit of uninterrupted knitting before the fun begins!

Lost of fun in perpective, happy summer

It always amazes me how different each region of the country is on when school is out. Here in CANADA, our children have been on summer holidays for nearly a month.

ooo! Am off in just a minute to look at the ribbon link. We are on the verge of school holidays here and I can’t wait! Admittedly by the beg. of next week at least one of us shall be reduced to tears and/or hiding in a bedroom but for now the concept of no routine sounds great!

Oh Julie I am sitting here giggling my head off, “beautiful doodles” indeed! Sorry, I just couldn’t help myself, it’s the boys fault, even the mean mention of the word “doodle” has them in fits of giggles.
The wool looks lovely, can’t wait to see what you create.
Happy holidays.

Sounds good… my son bite’s his Legos too. He SAYS it is to get them apart- so we bought him a brick separator. Now I am sure I habe spied teeth marks on the new ones… oh well 🙂
By the way, THANKS for the mini animal pattern. My kids love these (so did my DH who had one to play with DD and hers because apparently she didn’t really want Daddy to use her ones LOL).
Enjoy your summer!

Hi Julie, I’m really enjoying your blog. Thanks for posting.
There are two wonderful sites with projects your kids might enjoy. Hop on over to http://www.thetoymaker.com/2Toys.html and the gallery pages at http://www.sfcb.org/php/yp.php?id=ANTS. Both these locations have wonderful cut and fold projects. Nothing like making your own books and toys to beat the summer doldrums.

We’ve been on summer vacation from school here since May 23rd, and they don’t go back until Aug. 19th. I can’t really wait–does that sound mean? I need some more silence to my days, and less fighting between my 11 and 10 year old boys who never stop wrestling and arguing and nagging lol 😉
Sounds like you’re making great preparations! I love all those ribbons 🙂

Hi Julie,
It seems so strange to me that you are at the end of the school year but you are only in July….how does that work? In Australia we are only half way through the school year. I know that in Harry Potter the new school year starts on September 1st….but it always confused me! Doesn’t take much does it! LOL.
Looks like you have got yourself well and truly covered for keeping the kids busy for their break. Wish I was there to have a play. We love Lego around here! Jen

Hey Julie, enjoy your time with the kids – looks like you’ve got lots of fun stuff to do. I love the look of the books – they make me want to play too! Enjoy your new yarn – looks lovely.
PS Have left you something over at Dancin’ Puffin. I can’t believe you haven’t already got one so I can only assume I haven’t looked hard enough. But for the tiniest of slim chances that you don’t have one – I’d def pass this on to you! x
