foxy loxy

My favourite program on telly at the mo is Springwatch and I’ve been inspired by the antics of the foxes Jamie, Mungo and the chip shop family, well, that and some gentle persuasion from Zoe!

Fox3

Fox4

Anyway, so far they are just prototype heads but, once I’ve finally sorted out ears (there are 4 different ones in these pics) and grappled with a tail I’ll hopefully be able to make a full fox.

  1. Is there nothing you can not knit. Your work is just amazing. Love spring watch, we are getting later and later for school each day as Mom wants to sit and watch it.

PS Looking forward to seeing the fox in full.

  2. One of the things I remember most about my childhood in England was watching the Bazil Brush Show and that whacky laugh of his … ha ha ha ha haaaaaa … well you know the one. Your lovely fox’s heads reminded me of Bazil the moment I saw them. Very British.

  4. Oh Julie – Cant wait to show these to Oscar – my 6 3/4 yr old. He too is totally obsessed with Mungo, Jamie et al. He will just love your foxes. They are just gorgeous. I hope they have a clear understanding that they must behave with your bunnies.

  5. Lovely stuff. You have captured the foxy look so well.
Have you seen that Dave is back and Mr Minky has been having a great time? Apparently more photos of his adventures will follow. You should log where all your little creatures go on a world map.

  6. Oh naughty Mungo, we were so worried about him, we thought that he was lost forever, but he came trotting back without a care in the world!
We love springwatch too, we are fully fledged nature detectives now.
The knitted foxes look great so far, I can’t wait to see their little brushy tails…

  7. I love the foxes, but Alfie and Blossom are a little bit worried. They eat bunnies apparently. I have explained that your foxes would definitely not eat bunnies and would probably stick to chocolate cake instead! So they are quite happy and would like one to visit! Please.

  12. Well, I am going to say that I adore the little black tipped ear and really upset the chickens in the coop!
It gives the fox character ~ just like the real ones. 🙂

  13. I love the foxes – especially the one with the black tip to his ears. Can’t wait to see the finished product. Thinking of foxes makes me think of chickens (obviously!) – have you ever knitted a chicken?? If so I would love to see it! Lucy

  14. I. MUST. HAVE. ONE.
Because small foxes need to surround themselves with other small foxes. Perhaps so they don’t feel so small themselves… or perhaps to share the jelly tarts.

  16. Oh! He’s just wonderful!! My best friend loves foxes, and I’ll be watching to see if one pops up for sale at the same time I have the $. I’d also happily pay for a pattern, if you ever decide to release them (you wouldn’t have to worry about me trying to sell them!)

  17. Hi Julie, These little fox heads are amazing. I caught up with Springwatch when I was in the UK two years ago – I loved it. I remember a badger set with the cute badger cubs playing at dusk and lots of young bird chicks.

  20. SO, so cute, but if you’ve been watching Springwatch, where are the badgers?? Seriously, we have a big badger habit here and I for one would buy them by the cartload as presents for friends’ children if I saw some that were even half as cute as those foxes. Badgers are sorely under-represented in the toy world!!
