Snow!

Unlike some parts of the world we don’t get snow that often. A lucky thing, as we’re not well equipped to deal with it and everything tends to grind to a halt. However, you can’t deny the feeling of excitement that you get when you open the curtains in the morning to find a white, winter wonderland.

Amysnow

Amy was certainly in high spirits this morning and it took twice as long as usual to walk to school.

Snowyblossom

Poor old trees had just got their spring attire of beautiful pink blossoms, now frozen in sad little clumps. Still, we’re making the most of the snow as it will probably be reduced to brown slush by lunchtime! Keep warm everyone!

PS: Thanks to Terry At Softies Central for the recent mention and the link. If you like softies, check out her site as it features a comprehensive run down of gorgeous handmade items from all around the world. I don’t know how she does it, it must take a great deal of research. Keep an eye out too for the Softies Awards 2007 competition which will be announced soon.

  1. I was far too slow….the snow had melted by the time I got outside to take some pictures.
Bye the way, I love your blog. I came over from “Tales from Pixiewood”.

  2. How fun! I live in Cleveland, Ohio USA – shall I ship you some snow?! We have a snow warning starting tonight and lasting all day tomorrow – I’m sure we’ll have plenty to share. I really enjoy reading your blog – your toys are beautiful (I really need to get one sometime!) and I really enjoy seeing the little differences between the US and UK (although, kids are kids, right?) Have a wonderful day.

  3. I felt stupidly excited for a 35 year old when I woke up this morning and saw the snow. It does look magical when its untouched. It’s all gone now in central London so I gues it has at home in Kew too. I’m glad I managed to capture a bit of the magic. I love you picture of the blossoms.

  5. we’ve got a lovely view over snowy hills but none here yet – I keep getting as excited as a kid about snow coming and then disapointed when it doesn’t, and I’ve no idea why as it just makes getting to work difficult and I’m really too old to go out and build snowmen!
