…the kids are back at school; I’m existing quietly in my living room, just sitting, knitting, sipping tea and listening to the sounds of silence and next to my mug is a delicious maple & pecan cupcake with my name on it. Call me a simple girl but this is my idea of heaven.

What a yummy looking cupcake! Sounds like the perfect day to me.

I must be a simple kind of girl too then because that sounds like my idea of heaven as well. The cupcake looks delicious. Enjoy it and your peaceful day.

How did you manage to hold back long enough to take a photo of the cake first?! If it were me, that would be a photo of crumbs. Enjoy, you deserve some me time.

Zoe, you are eagle-eyed it is Debbie Bliss Cashmerino astrakhan and I’m knitting a simple garter stitch scarf. At the moment it’s only 5 inches long so it’ll probably end up being for next year! I had to have the wool it’s gorgeously soft and nubby and I fell for the colour. Rebecca, I’m not a paragon of restraint! I had a pack of 4!! So far have eaten one, allocated two to H and managed to save the last one for tomorrow but the day is not yet over!

Mmmm – I feel a trip to Waitrose coming on – I love those cupcakes too and the best bit is my kids only like the icing so I can usually eat 3/4 of the packet myself!!
And is that a Sophie Conran mug too – lucky thing! You obviously were successful in the ‘haul 2 kids out of bed and get them ready’ mission then!

You lucky, lucky thing. I love my kids to bits, but I am sooooo looking forward to next Tuesday when they go back! That sounds incredibly mean and I don’t mean it to be, but I need some craft time desperately! Happy New Year to you.

I love the colours in your photo. I think I love the cup more than the cupcake but that is because I turned into a Quality Street over Christmas.
Happy New Year!
